Queen Bee『Flame』Full Version「Dororo」OP
I've been playing this almost non-stop since I found the full version.
I really like something about this style of music, I don't know what the genre is called though. Does anyone know?

I very seldom have cola nowadays (no particular reason), but when I do, I'd very much prefer the full-fat version regardless of brand. There's always something off when I drink any off those "lite" or "sugar free" versions, akin to chewing plastic when you're expecting nougat (not that I've had any experience of the former :P)

For a time I had avoided watching GaoGaiGar and Gurren Lagann because at first glance it looked like robot shows for kids (not to say they say they weren't, but you know what I mean :)) I was more Gundam and Macross and nothing else mattered, but I keep seeing them under most recommended mecha titles. When I finally gave in and tried watching both, it was non-stop until I finished. Only regret I had was why I hadn't watched them sooner and what now now that I've seen both. :P

Gotta love those quotes too!
Together with the oath sworn through courage, go beyond the impossible and kick reason to the curb!

When I watch with my wife, I usually let her choose the series, and a few hours ago we just finished the two seasons of Clannad after a few days of bingeing. I was fairly familiar with the title, and although I know it's very well received, it wasn't the type I'd watch on my own (especially because I knew what it entailed). Suffice to say, I still wasn't fully prepared for the emotional roller coaster. And yes, much box tissue was spent especially during the last third of After Story. We watched in batches, so thankfully the heaviest episodes were split up otherwise I would still be a dribbling mess now.

After finishing it though, we immediately picked up Aggretsuko just to ease the weight off our chests. :D

But yeah, Clannad definitely deserves its spot in the list of all-time best anime though.

Kaguya wants to be confessed to: The genius's war of love and brains continues to be the best thing ever.

Started watching and thoroughly enjoyed it. Wife wasn't too happy though when we had to stop at ep5 at the time, so we decided to hold off until the entire cour is done before we continue :P

And yes, I believe we may found the way to world peace :D

- Watched Battle Angel Alita - OVA and the new movie. Enjoyable, but you can tell they left out a ton of stuff.

Haven't seen the movie yet but would really like to. I do have some apprehension though after my experience with Ghost in the Shell; hopefully it's not just all eye candy, but rather actually true to the source material (within reason).

Gotta remember, James Cameron is a vocal fan of the franchise, and has been for a long time. And he has the clout to tell the studio "Shut up, your ideas are dumb, we're doing what I want".
...
I actually suspect he decided to do Alita precisely BECAUSE of how bad Ghost in the Shell turned out. He wanted to make sure no one picked uo Alita and then fucked it up terribly(though Ghost bombing was probably insurance enough against that).

And for what it is worth, I have seen reviews from long-time fans of the comic book say the only real problem with the Alita movie is it tries to do too much in the time allotted. Cameron stays faithful to the source material.

I've been meaning to get out to the theater for this one, but haven't yet.

That's very encouraging to hear. I'll have to make some time to see this week.

I thought the Gits live action movie was passable. The anime movie was far better for sure, but I think the Gits universe just can't work that well for live action. I just didn't think there was any reasons for the film to be made. Well at least it wasn't Dragon Ball Evolution Super Saiyan God levels of awful...

Yeah, I wouldn't say GiTS was awful, just felt really flat; compared to say, when I saw Bumblebee. :P

It's interesting to see how some designs that seem superior on paper (and even in application), ultimately fails more due to external factors, like the case of the Lockheed L-1101.

I just hope we don't get to the point where everyone has to be strapped to their seat and sedated or something like that in order to be able to fly...

From my experience with the diversity of passengers you might encounter in a plane, there were times I honestly wished this were the case...

I don't like how Retroarch closes the program when you press Esc I think only dialogs (and logically speaking, Retroarch's overlay menu) menus should close, not the entire program (without confirmation? I don't remember).

Dolphin asks for confirmation before closing, when you press Esc.

Yeah, I have run into a similar situations before, resulting in much frustration. Even just pausing the emu with a confirmation dialog would suffice.

otherwise you should be barred from flying, no tolerance from any kind of antisocial behavior on a plane

Unfortunately, sometimes they come out only as soon as the door is closed :-/

also, if people think only other countries can completely mangle anime>live action adaptations:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=20IwsKSAhz4

Yes that's a television series with a budget that probably was fairly small but,I don't care how much budget you have even if you gave Peter Jackson a billion dollars: some things are just meant to stay anime or manga

Yeah, even a big budget Japanese production of a big name title have a potential to flop critically (if not commercially). Of course, there are also very faithful adaptations as well, like Rurouni Kenshin (still not forgiving it for flubbing the Amakakeru Ryuu no Hirameki though). :P

EDIT: Just watched Alita and was not disappointed. Definitely closer to the source material than GiTS was. I'm just sad it that it might not get a sequel due to lukewarm sales (showing in the same season as a Dragon franchise)

I still have no idea what I'm talking about.

Admittedly, I'd be willing to upgrade to a newer TV if it comes to it. But if manufacturers really wanted to make more sales, they should probably offer more basic models without all that SmartTM crap and just a good screen, decent audio (which are getting harder and harder to find), and a fairly robust AV (no, still not that other AV :P)

I still have no idea what I'm talking about.

Just adding to what Bear mentioned and somewhat emphasizing my point -- I would like to be able to buy a TV with good IQ and audio and without any of the smart (read: dumb) stuff that just adds to the cost without any meaningful value.

So... a computer monitor and a pair of speakers?
You'll pretty much never get good audio out of a panel display, because good audio requires a lot of space.

Yeah, it's pretty much a PC monitor with speakers and a tuner built-in :D
I'm not really saying it should have earth shattering audio, but even my old 40" Samsung LCD has better audio than a lot of more current offerings.

Why, though? You're cutting off your nose to spite the face, no? It'd have to be an almost cartoonish evil. Why not just cut the phone lines, if that was the goal? Why carry out the single action most likely to increase resentment against the already unpopular government, short of outright Arab Spring-style protester shootings?

Most regimes aren't completely homogeneous, and there might be little control the leader has with regards to goings-on on the ground. It's completely possible someone from the ranks panicked and took independent action, without completely seeing the big picture and the repercussions of their actions. It might also be possible someone from an internal faction is positioning themselves for a takeover.

Of course it can simply due to an accident, but politics is so cutthroat (sometimes literally), and I wouldn't be surprised if it weren't an accident.

Trailer for a live-action Dora the Explorer film
Just... what.

Why is this a thing? Why does it seem surprisingly violent? And why does it look genuinely entertaining?
Awww man, I saw the live action some time ago. :P Didn't realize they were making a sequel.
