meh,he's basically just your typical edgy, overly fragile troll. Zophar is every bland J-RPG trope all in one.The design of Lavos is more interesting and ultimately superior in its effectiveness as an antagonist, unlike the stereotypical villain who invariably turns out to be just another ineffective loser.

Lavos has no ambition because it's essentially a giant scavenger, parasitic organism who fell and buried under the planet eons ago. There's no dumb "Gnya! I'm evil!" thing going on with it.

If you excuse me, I'll be busy trying to find which dicks I have to suck in Japan so I can get any CrazyBus arranges out there for the next Comiket. Or the M3, I'm not picky.

As it turns out, the people who benefit the most from "the past is in the past" are always the dominant group. History is weaponized via forgetfulness, via traditionalist thought and nostalgia for an age that never existed.

You blaming those who are younger than you is very clearly a sign of your own traditionalist thinking, as if using a rotary phone has anything to do with being a functional member of society today.

Watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6myUwP3wPfs

Another Tim Wise fan I see. That's one of his better lectures

I found the older, born in the early-mid 80s gen, is often much worse than younger generations in their early-mid 20s.A lot of edgy trolls with nothing going on and it's often worse than traditionalist thinking but downright willful ignorance that permeates how they think. I think you're right about the nostalgia for an age that they never even knew or even existed for that matter. As someone who's part Jewish it horrifies me to see Europe and USA to a lesser degree I'd argue embracing far right ideology.

Japan was and is a deeply racist, deeply sexist nation, and a big part of that likely comes from their education system sugar-coating history for people. For some, "you can't know what you don't know" holds true, simply because it's very likely a history they were never made aware of. It's one of the most insulated nations and their own policies attempt to ensure that remains true into the foreseeable future.

True.Japan has also seen a rise in nationalism.

I'd really prefer if they would start students in US high schools with Zinn's A People's History of the United States, but that's probably too much to ask.

One can safely assume the US government has no interest in empowering its people, given those currently running it.

Yeah unfortunately countries like Germany are, when it comes to teaching their history in the minority,I don't single out the US in that regard because most of Europe do the same,as does Japan

Even at an uncompressed 128kHz 24-bit rate that would be 91146 minutes of music. At ~3 minutes/song it would be 30382 songs. If you stored 10 different performances of each, that would still be 3038 original songs, which no band has ever achieved. Forgive me if I don't believe it.

Well,I guess if you were to be...huh, very thorough about archiving and kept every concert duplicate from different angles, possibly including every vertical cellphone recording that you found somewhere of that concert... it could add up pretty quickly.

In this edition of "OH NO MOZILLA YOU DIDN'T~~!":

- Recent editions of Firefox come with a screenshot tool that unlike your trusty Print Screen key, can actually take full page screenshots without requiring to splice up partial shots on Paint (or your favorite equivalent). You can optionally upload the screenshot to Mozilla servers and share it with your friends or whatever. Except for the "optionally" bit: when you hit "Save" after taking the screenshot, it will NOT be saved to a .png file to your HDD as you would expect. No way Jose, that's not how things are done in the post-PC age! Firefox will first upload the screenshot to Mozilla (without your explicit consent!), THEN it will download it back to your PC. You can't make this shit up: Mozilla is uploading your screenshots (maybe with personal/confidential information) to their mothership without even bothering to tell you!

What in the..Jesus.

Posted by Nicholas Steel

You'll likely find they're dropping support for the function because Windows 10 v1809 supports the same Screenshot functionality (but without the Cloud shit), press Print Screen on the keyboard and drag/resize a box around whatever you want to screenshot and click the on-screen confirm button (Enter also works for confirmation). iirc you may need to enable the following setting if you upgraded from an older version of the O/S: PC Settings > Ease of Access > Keyboard > Print Screen Shortcut.

Facepalm

On the other hand, making that function the default and calling it "save" does feel deceptive. Selling out user's privacy in the name of short-term convenience is more Chrome's style.

yeah making it the default is downright crappy

No can do. As with any board, activity is up to the users.

Well put.
Though I would argue the lack of activity is actually not that bad given that we have people that are posting well over ten times the board's average.Granted, for a forum this size that may not be a whole lot overall but it's a start

Also, just wanted to thanks Kawa for the great DOS theme!

That's what I found under device specifications. Is that what you needed to know?

Sorry but it's very unlikely your CPU can run higan at full speed. one of my older AMD PCs has a slightly faster CPU similar to yours and it cannot run higan full speed either.Like it was said, your best bet is SNES9X

Now, civilian aviation, THAT was intentionally ended. The then-new FAA, charged with striking a balance between commercial and civilian aviation interests, decided that civilian interests were in the way of commercial interests and erected a series of regulations that were intended to force civilians to the ground.

sorry,but...do you have source on that? Not regarding the fact that many airlines are struggling right now,as this is no secret, but that civilian aviation was somehow deliberately crippled.

Also can you explain what you mean by "commercial and civilian aviation"?Civil aviation is normally defined as any non-military flight. That would include private, commercial, cargo and such So I'm not sure what you mean when you differentiate those two...

If you want Mupen64+, just use Bizhawk and avoid the awful Front-End's for Mupen64+ as well as the clunky and very unintuitive RetroArch UI. RetroArch does not save anything to the HDD if you click the X in the toolbar (including save game data). That alone is plenty of reason to not use it.

Bizhawk will save to the HDD if you click the X.

ah yes,the idiot's button. You can simply exit RetroArch using esc you know...

RetroArch has three levels of configuration I believe; the RetroArch global configuration file, a core configuration and a game configuration file. I believe the core cfg will override the global one and the game cfg, if you have one, will override the core options. The configuration files will only save what's different I think, so the core config will save anything different from the global config and the game config will save anything different from the core cfg

better explained here: https://docs.libretro.com/guides/overrides/

If Western carriers were to start employing security measures similar to the Israeli carrier El Al, an airline which is forced to take security much more seriously, wait times could probably be cut by around 80% for around 80% of passengers. Why isn't this done?

Israel airport security knows where it's at despite being one of the, if not the most, targeted country for terrorist attacks including of course those involving planes, it's amazing how well they're doing on that front. Though I don't think this model would work for U.S or other countries

hmm didn't you told NS to calm down just a few posts ago? not everything is a personal attack you know? And I wasn't replying to you so a bit strange reacting like that...wait...

I was referring to when you accidentally close an application when trying to minimize or resize an app hence why many or most programs have the "Are you sure you want to quit" exit confirmation now, in order to avoid any stupid mistakes in other words

Hope that clears any misunderstandings

Haven't seen the movie yet but would really like to. I do have some apprehension though after my experience with Ghost in the Shell; hopefully it's not just all eye candy, but rather actually true to the source material (within reason).

I thought the Gits live action movie was passable. The anime movie was far better for sure, but I think the Gits universe just can't work that well for live action. I just didn't think there was any reasons for the film to be made. Well at least it wasn't Dragon Ball Evolution Super Saiyan God levels of awful...

Not despite, because of.

The cultural factors are important. As they say in the video, rather than focusing on the weapons that could be used for an attack, they focus on the people who could use them. And that would probably be illegal in the US. However, informally, this already does happen at Western airports. If they'd formally adopt the practices of El Al, but with a lower threat model, they could skip the security screening for those who don't belong to any risk groups. It would be trivial to first check the passport biometrics and/or government databases, and only then carry out interviews and such for those from the higher risk groups. Same with the air marshals thing. If they'd have all people in, say, risk group 5 or above travel on some planes, it would be sufficient to have air marshals and such on those. It would also serve to decrease worst-case losses and incentives for most types of airline terrorism.

I don't agree with his assessment that Israeli airport security is inapplicable to the other airports in the world. Many elements of it certainly are. I mean, the IRA isn't active anymore, nor is the Red Army Faction. This is a matter of simple Bayesian statistics. If they'd just manage to sell people on it (or do it on the down-low), it would make air travel much less of a hassle for most people.

But they won't, because making air travel less of a hassle for most people isn't a goal. Sigh.

for sure the profiling based on race or religion wouldn't fly in the US... pun unintended. Always having personnel who are armed like they have there could be worth considering maybe...At this point I feel like it's either the US style system which is a mess in and of itself or the more effective Israel style method but which is unacceptable in most of the world..or maybe some kind of mix of that. I just hope we don't get to the point where everyone has to be strapped to their seat and sedated or something like that in order to be able to fly...

Yes that's a television series with a budget that probably was fairly small but,I don't care how much budget you have even if you gave Peter Jackson a billion dollars: some things are just meant to stay anime or manga

From my experience with the diversity of passengers you might encounter in a plane, there were times I honestly wished this were the case...

oh god...I've never experienced anything like that myself, though I've only flown a few times so that probably helped my odds... but ya, let's just say if someone wants to act like a lunatic or complete jackass, do so outside, on the ground. otherwise you should be barred from flying, no tolerance from any kind of antisocial behavior on a plane

Unfortunately, sometimes they come out only as soon as the door is closed :-/

oh,I understand that.Obviously, you can't land the plane midflight because of them, but once someone has acted out like that, put them on an asshole-while-flying blacklist. Nationwide: not just for one company. We remove driver's permits or privilege to drive in certain cases, there could be something like that for flying I guess

I don't like how Retroarch closes the program when you press Esc I think only dialogs (and logically speaking, Retroarch's overlay menu) menus should close, not the entire program (without confirmation? I don't remember).

Dolphin asks for confirmation before closing, when you press Esc.

Yeah, I have run into a similar situations before, resulting in much frustration. Even just pausing the emu with a confirmation dialog would suffice.

Correct. if you want to pause the emulation without quitting it's F1, at least by default I think. esc will quit without asking for confirmation

one thing that bothers me is how you apparently cannot completely unbound the guide button for xb360 controllers like you can do so for other keys for some reason, only replace it with something else. So by default for the 360 the guide button brings up RetroArch's menu, same as F1.

well actually there is a way to get around that: you have to manually edit the cfg file and map the guide button to something like gamepad button 90.Basically something higher than the number of keys on the gamepad so that when you press it since it's mapped to something that's not there obviously nothing happens

I can't even use those 25MB: Movistar 3G network has been down for the entire weekend, and the 2G barely works for calls. The Movilnet 3G stick stopped working 2 weeks ago (connection drops before PPP gives me a IP). My EvDO flipphone data stopped working years ago due to mysterious reasons.

Sometimes DSL comes up for minutes at a time, sometimes it becomes mildly stable for hours... but most of the times is a unusability nightmare of endless modem desyncs, fucked up DL/UL speeds, and total instability guaranteed. The best I can do is to load sites as fast as I can while I get a link, then read them when the link dies (forget about uploading large files or seeding torrents with such painful packetloss rates). I'm glad I don't stream videos or play games or any of those so-called Web 3.0 first-world enterprises!

CANTV techs refuse to come to my block and take a look, despite learning that the local head tech actually lives right at my backyard (yes, really!). We gathered signatures among my neighbors (since CANTV now requires that for all blocks with mass faults to bring signatures in batches), but half of the neighbors didn't even bothered signing the document (despite my entire block -about 70 subscribers- being without service for one reason or another). They promised they would come... someday.

But all those telco failures (intentional or not) fit nicely into the commies' agenda to isolate us even further from the world...

In the meanwhile, here we are, still in danger of dropping off the Internets for good :/

damn..considering the state of your country I guess it's not surprising the internet infrastructures are falling apart plus the fact it's being run by a shit government/dictatorship but still...I also read that CANTV has engaged in public surveillance for any anti Chavez or Bolivarian stuff. don't know if it's still true, not because I doubt they would engage in it, but given the state that the country is in I'm not sure if they even have the resources to do that anymore

i'm not too knowledgeable on the Venezuela situation but why is Maduro blocking foreign aid? Some kind of desperate attempt to remain in control and power? Or because it would legitimize the claims that his government and policies are well,a complete failure, or just to stick it to foreign nations?
