Yeah, people in the EU could use VPN to work around the regulation, but then I'd think that would be another expense they don't need nor want.

Conspiracy theory: VPN providers are lobbying for Article 13/17 in order to force consumers to use their services :P

Yeah, I understand providers VPN doesn't really stand much to gain from all of this, nor do they have any actual persuasive power. How about tor though? It has been around for quite some time, and probably the most effective, free (beer and liberty) method to anonymize network traffic. Bit of the downside from my understanding is that there is limited (or none?) control to specify where you'd like to appear you're connecting from. And there are some odds and ends (too technical for my understanding) that seem to prevent it from becoming a viable option.

* Politicians who secretly are vehement opponents of copyright vote for it to bring about a real-life reductio ad absurdum of copyright law.

I would hope politicians would be smart enough to realize this, but probably not.

* Large companies with the sufficient resources for ContentID et al lobby for it while claiming to oppose it, since it hurts their future competitors more than it hurts them.

This actually makes some sense.

The main proponent of article 13 didn't know what was in the bill, and most EU politicians don't even bother raising their hands when voting.

And this is why I have very little faith in the political system. I still do exercise my right to vote though...

The Event Horizon Telescope Collaboration is holding a live press conference presenting the results of a project to capture images of the supermassive black hole in the center of another galaxy

I haven't geeked out this much since the confirmation of the existence gravitational waves by LIGO and the redefinition of the kilogram to a mathematical constant :D

EDIT: I guess I was geeking out so much that I thought it was the Sagittarius A* black hole (our galactic core black hole) when it was in fact M87 in the Virgo galactic cluster :P

I know this technology has been around for some time already, what's concerning me is how it's becoming more readily available to the mainstream.
Deepfake videos are getting terrifyingly real

Yeah, this is kind of my concern. People can usually make out something is fake if it's well outside the general perception of an entity. However, if the faker is smart enough to make something very close to the truth, albeit ultimately inaccurate, people will then have a harder time separating fact from fiction. On top of that, the human mind is very easy to distract -- get something sensational or controversial they can get fixated on, and it's easy to manipulate them into believing something, or missing something very important. Like how many passes you can count in this video.

I never liked Avatar (found it utterly boring). Paradoxically I really liked Korra, so go figure.
They said Korra was the better Avatar.
But personally I think

Oh wow, I haven't played that game in a very long time. That was when I had absolutely no idea how to read Japanese, but played GB Wars nonetheless. Good times, good times.

Speaking of Japan:
When an actual ninja tells you that shurikens don't work, they really don't.

So it isn't that they don't work, just that the movies and cartoons don't understand HOW they work.

Guess I could've phrased it better :P *NINJA VANISH!*

Anyways, BALLS!!!

Yeah, there were about 35+B+extra episodes according to the wiki. I've stalled for some time at ep 18 (Four seasons with Ochibi), guess it's time to finish the rest of it.

It's been pointed out to me that One Punch Man Season 2 is finally airing, and already 6 episodes in. I'm looking forward to it.

I was also looking forward to it, but I had to temper my optimism though -- I've read that it's no longer the same studio (Madhouse) doing the animation, being done instead by JC Staff (Index/Railgun). Also the director changed since Shingo Natsume is now working on Boogiepop, being replaced by Chikara Sakurai, who's done work with Naruto. So... yeah...

Here's a pretty neat representation of the seven base SI units (inner ring) and how they relate to the physical constants (outer ring) and each other.

Video titled tan(x) >> features Daft Punk's song titled Touch >> line that lies on a curve at a single point is called tangent >> line touches curve >> tangent >> touch >> TOUCH!!!
Omg, that just made sense to me now!

Watched the first 7 episodes of OPM season 2 and honestly -maybe I just didn't have any expectations but I'm enjoying the show so far, even though I can see it's not quite in the same league as season 1.

Considering I follow ONE's web comic (non-Murata version), I guess I shouldn't be too worried. Anything is better than that art. :D

Why, Internet, why? XD

To be fair though, the second rendition of the omastar was pretty cool though.

On a non-related topic:
RC A-10 with functional flares and BRRRT.
Too bad it couldn't actually do BRRRT.
