Aaaand... this thread went straight to politics bullshittery. Please don't go there.

well you kind of brought it up yourself with Venezuelan politics... "communist shitholes" and such since the political situation in your case is a big reason why your internet situation is shit but sure no problem

Moving on: different server than before, fairly close to me

I know the UI of RetroArch is a polarizing issue around here, but AFAIK it's the only reliable way of MD emulation using the latest Genesis Plus GX (my go-to for SCD at least) on Win/Mac/Lin. Eke-Eke is pretty receptive to things like bug reports and some feature requests, even going so far as to compiling a custom version of the libretro core on Windows for me to help debug the sound output.

On Linux before that I was also using the last Gens/GS, even going so far as to install the Intel i32 packages on my 64-bit Ubuntu to get the 32-bit application running, as the Linux Kega didn't quite work right for me (I wanted to play the Sonic 1 Megamix hack at the time and Kega wasn't having it).

+1 for Genesis Plus GX, it has 100%, known at least, compatibility for Megadrive/CD games. and the best way to play that for linux I think is to use its libretro library core using whatever you'd prefer for that. I have little experience with Linux but you can run RetroArch on it

Also, you can't go wrong with Picodrive. Unlike GPGX it also supports 32x, by far it's not perfect but good enough to play Knuckles' Chaotix without issues, one of the only game for the system that might be worth checking out to be honest, though in my opinion, it's kind of a mess honestly and I'd rather play Sonic-CD

plus I don't know if byuu itself would consider it "mature" at this stage.

EDIT missed that initially but kinda uncool to refer to byuu as "it"...

Now that I have a new 32X emulator (PicoDrive), I feel the need to update this "thing" I did well over a decade ago:

your website is probably the most retro, "old internet" thing I've ever seen, no joke

Have you seen some of the rest of this server?

oh yes, but even something like this page doesn't feel quite as retro as something like this for whatever reason, I feel.Just going by design alone that is, regardless of which page is older

I can't actually tell.

for real... I think that's at least a "yellow" on the Even Advisory System (no "can't actually" unfortunately) and other HSAS derivatives

Been replaying the entire 32X library, for the second time in a decade and half or so, while redoing my 32X crashtest thing.

I guess there is a destination worst than being a citizen of this country, but this time I voluntarily boarded the train to Shitville.

Also, I now hate Virtua Racing.

omg, just imagine, CrazyBus...32X Edition...

I'm just joking mind you. Reading on the 32X seems a lot of those were just slightly better ports of stuff that were already old multiport 16-bit games like Mortal Kombat 2 and Blackthorne...basically things that likely didn't cost the devs a lot of money to make, since the games were already made so the devs were probably like "heh, why not?"

Pretty weak library overall. looks like it came at a really bad time too and it was sort of in-between console generations

We've started temporarily blocking a number of sites that are hosting footage of Friday’s terrorist attack in Christchurch. We understand this may inconvenience some legitimate users of these sites, but these are extreme circumstances and we feel this is the right thing to do.

According to a Reddit thread, that would be 4chan, 8chan, Voat, Bitchute, and Zerohedge.

Man, it sure feels great when a monopoly ISP blocks websites on completely arbitrary grounds. Good luck getting the free market to fix that one for you.

Oh well, it's fine, they can't block all the encrypted VPNs. It's like nailing Jello to a wall, right?

First they came for the socialistspirates...

oi mate, you've got a loicense for that VPN?

and now apparently Australia wants to scare the big tech companies with jail if they don't comply with their rules
https://gizmodo.com/australia-absolutely-considering-jail-time-for-tech-exe-1833578817

are they also going to try to censor things like the WTC towers' destruction? seems pretty inconsistent

Well, I mean... are any of the social networks they're targeting based in Australia? Seems like a pretty toothless law to me.

right, I don't see how that would work either. threatening them with huge fines is usually the way to go, like in Germany https://www.engadget.com/2018/01/01/germanys-hefty-hate-speech-fines-for-social-networks-start-toda/

RE2 remake Claire play-through. i thought it was harder than the original which is surprising and honestly welcomed in this day and age. when i first saw tyrant my first thought was "oh shit Q is in RE!" which could have been a thing i suppose given they're both characters from the same company and maybe share the same universe. but no, it's just another dude with a fedora hat...

If you're interested in watching a playthrough of the 2019 Resident Evil 2 game, than I strongly suggest you watch ProJared's playthrough on his Youtube channel.

has he posted any videos since all the drama? i always thought that guy was super creepy

Can they eliminate the sound of the cord rubbing against your clothes/objects?

well if you're seeing an hearing specialist, it probably be a good idea to have them tell you what would be the best one for you. don't know if you'll be hearing noises from the cord and such. whenever i use headphones i use noise isolating ones. never had a pair that was noise cancelling

edited - sorry, got op mixed up which always happen for some reason...though aren't headphones generally not recommended for people suffering from hearing loss? especially if someone is always listening to them at high volumes

TiTAN Overdrive 2 - Emulator Comparison
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_FyQPn89RZQ

Blastem is a megadrive emulator i just heard of recently, apparently cycle accurate so a bit like the bsnes of megadrive emulation maybe. poor Genesis Plus...it really has a hard time keeping up with some of the most obscure tricks you can do with the system. also that's one hell of a demo

whoops forgot tomman mentioned it here https://helmet.kafuka.org/bboard/thread.php?pid=1736
well, now you can see it in action i guess

this I've never seen before. for ad blockers? Sure. but just for private mode, that's a first.
also chrome:

https://www.sciencealert.com/a-tech-expert-says-we-should-stop-using-google-chrome

A Tech Expert Says Google Chrome Has Become Spy Software

Over a recent week of Web surfing, I peered under the hood of Google Chrome and found it brought along a few thousand friends. Shopping, news and even government sites quietly tagged my browser to let ad and data companies ride shotgun while I clicked around the Web.

This was made possible by the Web's biggest snoop of all: Google. Seen from the inside, its Chrome browser looks a lot like surveillance software.

"Tech Expert" my ass. "I use Firefox like the 1337 haxors now because I'm in the know, so I'm cool beans."

well ok, but google's track record regarding privacy hasn't exactly been stellar either. though it seems like it's a function of their size more than other companies being "nicer". any company this big is likely to be involved in some rather shady stuff like working with the NSA and "PRISM" and things like that
