Super Mario Bros: The Lost Levels by BigJon in 19:13 - GDQx2018

BigJon is always fun to see play.

Also, nice, Lost Levels/SMB2J has actually a proper second quest...I didn't actually know that. Afaik the first game's second quest is basically just enemies being replaced or made faster. Feels kinda cheap, which is why I don't think I ever really bothered playing it.

Circle of the Moon is the only GBA Castlevania I never finished. I kind of played it a bit but was turned off by the graphics so I never really gave the game a chance (this was after I played HoD and AoS). I ought to play it sometime.

Random game: Cyber Police ESWAT

It's like Shinobi (very similar physics and gameplay and made on the same arcade system) had a child with Robocop. I'm not sure how it works exactly but it seems you can't continue or you have a limited number of continues passed a certain stage*...Very frustrating but brilliant in terms of making arcade goers put more quarters in the machine and something I'm surprised more companies didn't use more often back then.

Also, the game features the most comically cringe voice ever recorded in a video game. I'm guessing it's made worse by the low audio quality of the sample.

*Seem you can't continue on the last stage. So if you're not on full lives before the last stage, lose on purpose then beat the stage I guess.

NES Tetris:
CTWC 2018 Top 4 - Pt. 2 - Greentea vs. Jonas

Also Capcom Pro Tour December 14-16. $250,000 first place I believe. Top 32 players are gonna be there (well, except for Infiltration, he's probably never gonna play competitively again)

wut? is he retired?

Also, Tekken 7 World Tour was won by a Kuma/Panda :O

EDIT: dang, that first tetris match was a nailbiter!

Damn, I missed the T7WT. Time to see the replay then. And yes: CTWC is always hype :D

Regarding Infiltration, it's related to his domestic abuse charges with his ex: https://capcomprotour.com/capcom-response-charges-seon-woo-infiltration-lee/ I guess it's not impossible he may play again in the future, but he's definitely out of this year's CPP.

What is this place?

Keep your eyes peeled!

It's a message board.

It does not require a cellphone or a proprietary "instant messaging" "app" that only works with cellphones or high-end computers only available in Silly Valley. It's the Internet as it should be.

And yes, it works on your machine too!

Also very much this, too.

I'm trying to downgrade from Windows 10 to Win 8.1.

Installation completed and so far so good but when the installation finished I was greeted by a "CPU not supported" message. From what I read it seems 7 and 8.1 just don't officially support kaby lake and Ryzen CPUs. So far from what I read it seems windows updates will be disabled too...

Does anyone here has experience running 8.1 with either of those CPU architectures (and manages to get updates)?

edit: Well I'm going to give this a try.

would there even be motherboard drivers for those platforms on win 8.1 and earlier?

Well, I applied the patch mentioned in the article (went off without a hitch), downloaded and installed every 8.1 windows updates and, just like it did with Win 10, WinUpdate seem to have also installed motherboard and gfx drivers in the process. So yeah, drivers are not an issue, everything works fine for me (I assume it would also work if you installed the mobo drivers separably yourself).

And...holy crap: what an improvement in performance, too. Retroarch in particular...I was getting abysmal performance on Windows 10 with Retroarch for some reason. Afaik, it's due to Win10 messing up OpenGL or something like that... Tried changing the video drivers in RA and it did alleviate the problem somewhat but I was still getting worse performance than on my A10 6700 (which is kinda absurd given that it's considerably older hardware than a Ryzen 7) also all the shaders I use with RA work with OpenGL afaik.

Anyway, I don't think I'll be reinstalling or reusing Win10 any time soon. My experience with it has been less than stellar.

Top 8 and Grand Finals

I really thought spoilers was going to take the tournament...I think he was getting too excited towards the end, especially when he resetted. His comeback from a 2-0 deficit against J.Wong's very keep away Menat was great.

Evil Ryu/Shadow/Kage or whatever looks actually pretty good, except for the silly horns/teeth. Hope Daigo picks him, like he did in SFIV with E.Ryu

Misc software you're been using.
Please provide a short description and link, what platform(s) it's available for, etc.

OBS Studio

For recording whatever's happening on your PC. Available for Linux and Windows, free and open source,

Best capture software I tried so far. Can capture at 60, full screen running games/applications and well pretty much everything I tried recording.

Yeah, I ran into some problems at first. For example with certain presets/settings it records the desktop fine but not applications running in certain full screen modes (or vice-versa). I would just get a black screen when I tried recording a game running full screen. Turns out all I had to do is select the 'game' preset or whatever it's called.

Big holiday sale on PSN. I think week 1 is still in effect but probably not for long. I impulsed-bought/porked out on a lot of ~$1-$5 games, totaling about $50-60 (half of those I'm not sure I'm gonna play once...). Still have ~$30 left.

Here's the list.

If you have any games you recommend among those, feel free to share.

Butbutbut electric cars are the one and only true solution! Muh batteries!

Nevermind that you still need dead dinosaur juice (often coming from communist shitholes like mine!) for all those plastic parts (which on modern cars means pretty much everything except for tires, powertrain, and frame), also lubricants (cars have wheels, and by extension, moving parts), and mining all that lithium involves dealing with all class of nasty poisons (but who cares about those poor Australian/Chilean/Argentinean miners anyway?). And of course all those electrons that you have to squirt back into your batteries have to come from somewhere else, yet nobody wants cheap nukes because MUH CHERNOKUSHIMA ISLANDS, and you can't put hydro dams in most of the world, so let's keep burning dirty coal on Someone Else Backyard while we pretend that solar/wind are the definitive silver bullet (hint: they aren't).

But hey, banning internal combustion engines is so much easier, and as a bonus, it attracts voters and enlarges Musk ePeen...

Too bad fuel cell vehicles are so impractical and expensive as hell, otherwise we would all be driving awesome cars like the Toyota Mirai while drinking fresh water from our exhaust pipes.

Yeah, I'm all for more energy-efficient, less polluting stuff but 'tis true: most people only think about the end result or whatever they're emitting themselves whenever they're driving. It's nice and all not generating much emissions whenever driving but if there's the fabrication process you gotta think about: if you're eliminating the pollution while the vehicle/object is being used but you have a very costly/polluting fabrication process, then you're just moving the pollution around.

I actually prefer Lavos's second form to the final battle.

But Lavos is a chump anyways. Zophar knows where it's at.

Well the nice thing with CT is you can make the Lavos fight as easy or as hard as you want. Last time I played the game I tried fighting Lavos at level ~35-36 I think -basically without doing any of the optional quests...Barely defeated the 2nd form and got literally one-shot-ed by his Grandstone attack (which did over 1k damage on all members). I'm sure it's doable at that level and with that equipment but it's tough (at the very least make sure you have protect and/or barrier to avoid getting one-shoted). I did the Sunstone quest and Robo's Ro(bo)mance/Mother factory quest..leveled up around 45 and it was a piece of cake (Crono-Marle-Frog with haste cast on the whole party, spamming their triple tech).
