    "I'm a Spider, So What?"

Gonna watch this, already read the manga for quite a few chapters.

Fun fact: since falling into the holohole I haven't watched a single anime except the recent episode of Re:Zero. Rent-a-Girlfriend? Stopped at episode 5. Danmachi 3, Mahouka, Tonikaku Kawaii? No idea about those...

I feel like I haven't really been following a lot of titles the past little while:
    - BNA
    - Re:Zero 2 1st cour
    - Re:Zero Movie
    - Jujutsu Kaisen 1st cour
    - Binged Golden Kamuy up to the latest sesason

I might've mentioned somewhere in past threads, but I grew up in the Philippines (based in Canada now), and Voltes V was pretty popular with my contemporaries. So I heard recently that one of the major broadcasters there actually got a license from Toei for a live-action production. The teaser actually doesn't look half-bad, and if the rest of the show will be at this level of quality, I'd be pretty stoked to see this.

I've been hearing pretty good things about it too. Already have it on my Plan to Watch, just haven't gotten around to it yet.

Seen a few random clips, and been seeing a lot more in my Recommended vids on YT. I've been actively avoiding it though out of caution of falling into said hole. Hopefully I'm not die, thank you forever.

I still have no idea what I'm talking about.

This season, I'm watching Spider, season 2 of Cells at Work(but not Cells at Work Black, I like my bloodstream happy and chipper, thanks), and "Soukou Musume Senki"(because mech-girls, don't kinkshame).

Last season, it wvs just Tonikaku Kawaii, and... before that I basically watched no anime because working during the plague apparently left me dead inside.

I apparently just couldn't care enough to find something to watch. Hell, Railgun 3 was skipped for a literal year, and I LOVE Railgun.

Yeah, i guess last year really put a damper on my enthusiasm too despite my list getting longer and longer. And the ones I kinda want to follow are mostly still ongoing, and i didn't want to start anything that would end midway and id have to wait several months at the soonest for a continuation.

No! Bad! I will not allow you to tempt me to add another show when I haven't made much progress with my list yet. adds show anyway

I was meaning to watch Promised Neverland S2 but decided to read the source first since I found that it was already finished. Pretty interesting how they went with the story but not sure how anyone else might see it. I'm just curious now how far the anime will follow the manga.

Oh yeah, introduced the wifey to Horimiya since there's the anime now (and she enjoyed Kobayashi before). I was personally hyped when I first read it was getting animated, and am glad to see she seems to be enjoying it as well.

So this... is now an anime.

Hell, it's even streaming mostly worldwide.

I normally don't do subbed-only, but Douki-chan a cutie, and Yomu knows how to draw some serious quality pantyhose, so might pick it someday.

A bit late to the party, but I've now seen the 4th and last Evangelion Rebuild movie (been a bit busy following VTubers instead). Can finally remove that one from my bucket list.

    <spoilers>

Regarding the presentation, there were a few really cheap-looking CGI shots towards the end, really would've liked a different aesthetic; at times it also looked like a game played on an old graphics card due to the ~24 Hz framerate. The sense of scale also got lost for a few moments. As for the content, it was mostly fine. Didn't really like that Asuka was retconned into being one of many clones and that she doesn't end up with Shinji, but that's just my preference I guess.

I rewatched all 3 movies before the 4th dropped just to get myself up to speed. I think I understand what you mean about the sense of scale, but I also think it was partly intentional

Watched Gunbuster and Diebuster over the last few days. Very reminiscent of FLCL (same director, afaik), sexy and/or silly at times, and apparently very similar to TTGL (of which I only saw a few episodes many years ago). In the end it was enjoyable enough, even though it had some low points

I only vaguely remember that scene. It's literally been years since I saw the Buster series.

Recently binged through Zetsuen no Tempest. Made a lot of use of quotes from Shakespeare's Hamlet or The Tempest but I've never read them in full so a lot of them were unfamiliar to me. Pretty interesting way they handled the time magic shenanigans, I'd say it was at least fairly consistent.

Gunbuster was pretty fantastic. Straight outta the OVA golden age, when you could get lotsa money just by saying "I wanna make an anime". The final episode is epic in both scope and presentation.
    Never seen Diebuster.

Blast of Tempest was fun as heck, to my recollection. Which is admittedly limited. I mostly remember the scene where the one dude asks if the other dude is hungry and hands him a Snackers bar.

    Zetsuen no Tempest

Amazing OST, I used to listen to it quite often.

I thought that episodes 20+21 (Hakaze going back) was the climax of the story, because Aika is just that awesome. All the episodes after that fell a bit flat because of that, imo.

    Never seen Diebuster.

Just like Gunbuster it's fine if you want epic action scenes, especially towards the end. If you like FLCL you'll enjoy the rest too.

I think the writers definitely knew what they were aiming for when they did that scene. :D

Yeah, that rooftop scene where someone suddenly spoke behind Hakaze was particularly notable for me. Although I did already have my inkling about the whodunit, it was still pretty satisfying how it was revealed.

Also watched Sakasama no Patema and Belle recently. Both are feature length so they can be enjoyed in one sitting. Patema revolves around literally inverted races interacting with each other. The why is revealed eventually, and there's a pretty neat twist near the end but I won't elaborate further. Belle is basically a MetaverseTM take on Beauty and the Beast, but there is less focus on the romance (and not the characters you would initially expect) and just more on the interpersonal and emotional growth. If you've ever seen Summer Wars it has that similar feel to it. I'd say both are worth a watch if you don't have anything else on your list.

I still have no idea what I'm talking about.
