Page rendered in 1.067 seconds with 20 MySQL queries.

    Is your board doing okay?

    EDIT:
Page rendered in 8.076 seconds with 27 MySQL queries.

Page rendered in 1.192 seconds with 15 MySQL queries.

"Last posts" is ~5 ms, short threads the same, but longer threads appear to load far slower.

It's often but not always close to a whole number of seconds (in this tab here: "Page rendered in 0.943 seconds with 21 MySQL queries."). There was an issue very similar to this that someone was having with SQLite, it was sleeping a whole second to try and resolve some conflict. Could this be the case here?

Although sometimes I get other times, like 0.138, 0.558, or 0.555.

It may be oddly slow sometimes, but it's not exactly breaking apart. And if it ain't broken...

If it ain't broken, improve it 'til it is.

    https://helmet.kafuka.org/bboard/lastposts.php loaded quickly.
I click this thread and it isn't loading.
After waiting for over 10 seconds, I opened 2 other posts which start loading quickly, followed by this thread finally finishing.

    >Page rendered in 15.953 seconds with 30 MySQL queries.

    that's 16 seconds.

    -------

POSTing the "edit" to this post took close to 10 seconds to load. But the thread self-reported to have rendered in <1 second.

Oh, so it's not my horrible connection then. THIS TIME.

Been noticing the same delays at random, but dismissed those as "ugh, not again...".

Only the threads have the load time issue, in particular longer threads.

I think it goes into (database-level) cache if you refresh a few times, which causes the page load time to become normal again.

Yeah, it's only the threads. I did some testing, where I requested random POST IDs (?pid=) and wrote down the load time:
    127 0.624
    251 3.678
    454 0.027
    473 1.020
    742 1.476
    1143 0.242
    1209 0.565
    1272 7.732
    1462 9.300
    1669 0.021
    1707 0.985
    1875 1.552
    1974 0.022
    2065 0.091
    2280 6.400 *OP
    2314 1.032
    2540 6.904
    2704 24.238

It seems like there's a split, between load times <2s and >3s (no load times between 2-3s).
Those above 3s appear to have a slight correlation to post ID. So speculating wildly, it could be doing a linear scan for those.
Although it doesn't explain why it's so close to whole seconds.
If I do it with ?id=X:
    36 0.026
    56 0.008
    64 0.057
    72 0.051

    Normal load times.

Does the database have an index on post ID? If not, that could be it. It doesn't seem like the other boards on this domain have the same issue, and I'm assuming the code is very similar.

Correct on both counts -- they are indexed on post ID, and the all boards on this server are variations on the same ABXD codebase.

Are the database schemata entirely identical, then?

Also, what's up with the version numbers? If I refresh the main page, the version number changes!

At least so far as the threads and posts go, they are identical.

The version numbering is a joke, ignore it.

Maybe you could open up the query profiler or whatever they call it and see what's going on inside.

But it seems to have stopped now. So no reason to do anything, really.

"Optimize table" is a thing I did right after that post. So maybe cruft removal helps.

Odd, it's not just the threads doing it.

Tried to delete some PMs. First one was instant (0.006 s), second one?

Page rendered in 10.985 seconds with 19 MySQL queries.
