Posted by creaothceann I thought it'd be cool before clicking, but it just looks so flat. It's pretty neat at native resolution though, as long as there is no anti-aliasing. There was a certain photograph about which you had a hallucination. You believed that you had actually held it in your hands. It was a photograph something like this. |

Posted by Kawa Yeah, but at native res the undersampling helps smooth out the patterns quite a bit. In 4K with AA, it looks more like a texture. I came across a Twitter account called World's Most Aggravating Edge Cases, and yow, are they ever aggravating. Most of them are hypothetical ("Every number which will fit legibly on an American football player's jersey has been retired") or widespread problems we've learned to live with ("negative zero", "discontinuities in civil time"), but there's a lot of real-world ones that would really make me grind my teeth in frustration if I had to deal with them myself. - Somebody fixed a timer overflow in Qt, then had to wait 2^32 milliseconds (~50 days) to verify the bug was fixed - "Hey Siri, play 'Something', by the Beatles." - The UK parliament currently has 10 independent members, belonging to no party, and 11 Independent members; that is, members of the party called The Independent Group. - A gdb bug that caused gdb to core dump, but loading the core dump into gdb would cause the *new* gdb to core dump - Escape Room and Escape Room are two unrelated films both released in September 2017. They are also unrelated to Escape Room, a film released in March 2019. - A suspect born on 2000-02-29 was charged with a crime committed on 2018-02-28. If you count March 1st to March 1st, she's legally an adult and can be tried as such. However, if you count February 28th to February 28th, she's a day short of her 18th birthday and should be tried as a minor. The ending of the words is ALMSIVI. |

Posted by Screwtape The law says "18 years", not "18 birthdays"... Using some simple Excel formulas: 2018-02-28 - 2000-02-29 = 6574 days / 365.2425 = 17.9986310746064, i.e. 17y 364d 21h 3m 36s. So her age might actually need to be calculated to the minute. My current setup: Super Famicom ("2/1/3" SNS-CPU-1CHIP-02) → SCART → OSSC → StarTech USB3HDCAP → AmaRecTV 3.10 |

I thought about this one too. I don't agree. If you want to calculate how old you are, how do you do it in your head? Your birthday is public, so I'll use it as an example if you don't mind. You start off by taking how many whole years have passed, so 2019-1980 = 39. Then you ask yourself, have I had my birthday this year yet? If not, you subtract one, giving 38. This is the common meaning of "how old are you," and it gives 17 in this case. The "born on leap day" thing is just a red herring. Say you're born on 2016-02-05, add 365.2425 days, that gives you your next birthday as taking place on 2017-02-04. This isn't the commonplace definition of "years old". Just reason about it - if you're checking someone's ID to make sure they're over 18, do you start thinking about leap days? I think she should be tried as a minor. There was a certain photograph about which you had a hallucination. You believed that you had actually held it in your hands. It was a photograph something like this. |

I thought about it and came to the conclusion; if you're dumb enough to commit a crime, you're dumb enough to live on the edge doing so. I think the law would be smart enough to disregard any argument involved with this case. |

Posted by KakashiI took a simpler approach. People born on a leap day typically celebrate on 2/28 on short years. That said, I respect the defense's dedication to their client that they'd run this argument up. --- In UTF-16, where available. --- |

A friend of a friend works in the Canberra court system, and according to them that story smells very much like "the defence asked very nicely that the defendant be tried as a child, and the judge bent over backwards to find a vaguely plausible legal justification". The ending of the words is ALMSIVI. |
