Been replaying the entire 32X library, for the second time in a decade and half or so, while redoing my 32X crashtest thing. I guess there is a destination worst than being a citizen of this country, but this time I voluntarily boarded the train to Shitville. Also, I now hate Virtua Racing. Posted by creaothceann No, the audio actually makes it bearable! Except for the narrator at the title screen - Sega made the right call to redo the "VIIIIRTUA RACING!!!" voice on the overseas versions. Licensed Pirate® since 2006, 100% Buttcoin™-free, enemy of All Things JavaScript™ |

Posted by tomman omg, just imagine, CrazyBus...32X Edition... I'm just joking mind you. Reading on the 32X seems a lot of those were just slightly better ports of stuff that were already old multiport 16-bit games like Mortal Kombat 2 and Blackthorne...basically things that likely didn't cost the devs a lot of money to make, since the games were already made so the devs were probably like "heh, why not?" Pretty weak library overall. looks like it came at a really bad time too and it was sort of in-between console generations |

Posted by DonJonThe idea of there being lockstep generations wasn't yet something people DID. The 32x's biggest problem was the Saturn. Sega Japan yanked the rug right out from under it. I've seen some interviews with people involved recently, and basically everyone knew the 32x was a bad idea, but no one actually had the authority to kill it. It made sense when proposed, but it was delayed to the point that it needed to rumble with the Playstation and Saturn, and it couldn't really stand on an even footing with them. That Sega Japan had assigned all the good developers to the Saturn so they weren't available to make 32x software didn't really help anything. The "got enhanced 16-bit games" thing is just a matter of time frame. It got the titles that were hot at the time it was out, which... also came out on Super Nintendo and Genesis because they were hot. --- In UTF-16, where available. --- |

Epic Games launcher program analyzes your Steam process, collects your Friend names (allegedly hashed during collection), list of your games and when you last played them and when friends last played games iirc: https://www.resetera.com/threads/developing-epic-games-launcher-appears-to-collect-your-steam-friends-play-history-epic-responds-see-op.105385/ Allegedly this data is only submitted to an online server when you synchronize your Steam friends with your Epic friends on the Epic Launcher. Some of those 32X games haven't aged well: Virtua Fighter graphics may have been innovative in 1994, but it now looks like if the thing was made in Minecraft. Also, Pai's face smiling at you when you pick her at the character select is... creepy. Licensed Pirate® since 2006, 100% Buttcoin™-free, enemy of All Things JavaScript™ |

Looks like Sega finally axed Denuvo from Sonic Mania. And, oh lookie - a Sega publisher sale is right on Steam! Now that Sega actually want our monies, let they have 'em. The last $7 I've been stashing on Steam since 2015 are about to go then. Licensed Pirate® since 2006, 100% Buttcoin™-free, enemy of All Things JavaScript™ |

Following on with the 32X library, I'm actually growing some love for Metal Head. I don't like shooters, much less FPS. I don't even like mecha games. SO... why in the hell I like one of the worst mecha FPS ever made? Maybe it's the cheesy explosions when you kill something, maybe it's the cool metalish soundtrack from your average Japanese game from the '90s, or maybe it's the fact I'm playing a 32X game, but... it's not the first time I sink quite some time into Metal Head. If I weren't doing a quick test of the entire library, I would not stop playing. Now I'm testing Chaotix, the final game on my test schedule. Oh god, Chaotix... The Sonic game everybody wants to forget (including myself). Licensed Pirate® since 2006, 100% Buttcoin™-free, enemy of All Things JavaScript™ |

I remember liking Metal Head when my cousin had a 32x. I don't remember why. I do remember it is one of the few games that uses the mode button as a gameplay control. --- In UTF-16, where available. --- |
