SMW was one of the only games that optimised the resolution to 240 lines on the PAL version right? Even DKC didn’t do that surprisingly :p

It's weird that they didn't do the same kinda optimizations for the other games in the Super Mario All-Stars collection, Super Mario All-Stars + World collection and the uh, collection that included all of them and Super Mario World 2 (was that a thing?)

It's really bizarre going from the NES games which did take advantage of the increased vertical resolution, to the SNES games which squished everything.

https://www.pixiv.net/en/artworks/16419062 was my first example of this effect. It used a clever variant, as I recall, that only worked with two pictures of very different brightness, instead of two of similar brightness(and that it still works almost a decade later is embarrassing as fuck).

What's supposed to be special about it? The grid that appears at certain zoom scales? Also if I left-click it to "zoom" it I get a completely different image file (not an artefact of how scaling is done by my web browser) and you can open both images and switch back and forth.

Yeah I was reading http://www.4p8.com/eric.brasseur/gamma.html which fully explains the issue that causes the bizarre effect (and points out that recent versions of Firefox reintroduced the issue).

Microsoft got into trouble due to exclusivity deals for windows/dos with a handful of major manufacturers, and shipping their OS in a manner that reduced choice to those new to computing. At the time of the case, you couldn't ship windows 9x without IE - you can ship an android without chrome, or any of google's apps.
Similar thing happened with either Windows XP or Windows Vista, resulting in Microsoft Windows asking you which Web Browser you'd like to use with it listing common browsers to choose from, the first time you attempt to open Internet Explorer.

At least in the UK I think? It's the N editions of Windows which have this behaviour.

Apple being Apple, wants people to pay an annual fee to be able to Notarize their software before it can be sold on the Apple store and other dumb stuff like removal of 32bit support.

Wow, Norton's became bad with their Windows XP version of Systemworks 2004 and then continued to be awful :/ there software was pretty good under Windows ME and older, assuming you didn't touch the registry cleaner.

A shame they're taking Powerquest Partition Magic with them to their grave.

Someone figured out why Max Payne wasn't working with AMD's Ryzen 3000 CPU's. Initially it was thought to be a bug with the new CPU's but it turns out it's a coding bug in the game! It's improperly parsing the capabilities of CPU's and was somehow working until now.

Whelp, Game Freak cements my desire to not play their game: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z3gYUVWGEqM There's a bug that wipes out all downloaded games on the Switch. You have to redownload every game. Also erases all Save Data for every game.

Getting my $85 worth, of the total $250 bill.

Sharter Speculum offers 400/20 for less. They're the only competition. AT&T doesn't care, they'll never improve.

Why are you paying $250 for something your infrastructure can't possibly achieve? Surely the ISP's in your area offer lower speed plans for much cheaper prices that still exceed the capability of your network?

I pay $59.95 AUD for 50/20Mbps and you pay $250 USD for worse...

Oh, so do the conservatives? Well, shit. Maybe he's just a terrible human.
