What's worse is, with all this talk of specific encoding schemes...

repointing to make room for trivially-encoded strings is the easiest way, even on systems with "nasty" pointers.

Seriously though, there's basically only one reason for Chrono Trigger to have dictionary lookup bytes and that's "ROM is expensive".

It doesn't support ancient logograms?
Jokes aside, this is probably true in some sense.

Your experience does not match other people's experiences. If DOSBox was slow as molasses, would it be able to run Doom at full speed? Cos I just sped through E1M1 for a laugh and noticed no speed issues whatsoever. If it was slow as molasses, would publishers still include it when they re-release their old stuff?

Wait, no. VirtualBox, not DOSBox. Still my point stands because I have in fact played Doom on VirtualBox and it ran about as well as it would've on a lower-end supported PC. And other games that aren't as complicated? Perfectly fine.

Considering the godawful practice on display there, I'm not sure if making things look pretty ought to fall to me.

I can accept Excel or whatever not doing newlines in formulas, but that doesn't mean you can't use them when posting one outside of Excel.

Edit: and it freakin' does. I just tested it.

Nobody cares anyway.
I care. I just don't know what to say, since I can't actually do anything.

When is the last time an installer actually told you what it was doing in any detail?
I can't be specific enough to name names but roughly half-ish of all applications that used NSIS installers were more than willing to go into detail.

Right, well, my only excuse is I didn't watch Fullmetal Alchemist and try not to ever look at TVTropes.
Which makes you smarter than the average user here. At least twice over.

Can't you just click on it and then copy the URL, I mean?
"Copy link address" does not give you the short, correct URL. I just tried it myself.
