Ain't nothin' wrong with the disk. I am afirm believer that a flash drive to boot off and a disk for bulk storage is an ideal setup.

Videos, music, and large games productivity applications don't need to consume your entire system, which they will if you only have a flash drive.

Yes indeed - if you only have something like a 128 GB or 256 GB fast NVME drive, I completely agree with you. Thing is, you're not stuck with those small drives anymore.

While drives like the $1300 8TB Sabrent Rocket isn't affordable by modern standards, the $229 ADATA XPG SX8200 Pro is (though, I agree, on the high end). 2TB is still plenty of storage.

I need more than 2T of storage.

I get why ATX12VO exists. It makes sense, but it sucks in the short term. Just like the AT-ATX transition did, but at least we don't need new cases too this time.

There will still be room for large cases - but just like we moved from MicroVAX form factor to full tower to mid-tower, I think the future desktops will be small enough to mount on the back of our monitors.
You left out the part where we went from mini-towers back to mid-towers. My AT machine is smaller than my ATX machine, in large part because the drive cage and power supply overhang the motherboard. Like an ITX machine, only with less origami and no special cooling considerations.

Modern processor and graphics adapter power demands make this a very challenging form factor to work with instead of just "how computers are built". Yes, even smaller systems exist, but they wind up being very restricted by heat unless a LOT of care is put into the cooling design(as we continue to see with laptops every year)

A Game Genie code shouldn't be affected by copier headers anyways. Copier headers don't map into the Super Nintendo address space, and Genie codes use the address space to define what bytes they alter.

I can't rightly figure out a way for headers to affect Genie codes without breaking everything else.

Also that wall o' text is irrelevant to the "debate". Game Genie oodes are still game-specific. This isn't a header issue, it is you using codes for a diffrent game.

I thought you said they bought Bethesda for $7.58 at first, and I spent far more time than I should've trying to figure out how that even worked.

So... does this mean Bethesda games have betatesters now?

Super Mario 64 - native Android port

It's official: good ol' SM64 has reached the Doom status: being able to be ported to nearly every device under the sun.
Coming Soon™ to your nearest (printer|ATM|Tesla|calculator|anything with a CPU and something that can render polygons)

...damn it, I want to play SM64 on a pregnancy test!
"PLEASE PEE TO START"

Not as low-spec as an electronic pregnancy tester, but it has been ported to Dreamcast and MS-DOS.

Really kinda ridiculous how easy this thing apparently is to port.

Honest question: Do ATi AMD GPU drivers still suck?

Not only the Linux ones.

Depends who you ask?

I've not had any issues with them for several years. Others swear they've had nothing BUT issues.

I do know the drivers for the RX5000 series were, ummm, extremely fucked, at and shortly after launch. Don't know if they ever got better.
But it seems an isolated incident to me.

I bought, and played the crap out of, the Panzer Dragoon remake on Steam.
As of right now, the "start the game" achievement has an over 99% acquisition rate. That's... really weird for a Steam title. THE HYPE IS REAL.

The remake seems to have been based on the japanese version of the original(Panzer Dragoon was toughened up significantly for the initial US release, as was common in the day). All three available difficulty options are SUPER easy, and a one-life clear on hard mode is a cakewalk. The game is very pretty, but has little meat to it.
And like the Saturn, Windows, and XBox versions, special features are unlocked per-play through the use of cheat codes on the title screen, which is... a misguided turn down Nostalgia Boulevard.
There was a significant frame-pacing issue, with the game locking itself to 59 FPS. Combined with the lack of a VSync option, that resulted in very frequent tearing. That has been patched now, the game hits 60 like it is supposed to and supports VSync. (No option to reduce the frame rate to 20 "for the nostalgiaz")

I wish the game took after the PS2 port of the original and included a menu to toggle all the various bonus features on and off. Also the PS2 version included all six difficulty options(three japanese and three american).

11/10, game of the century

But then, I've heard that Intel has done absolutely NOTHING with their Altera purchase, quality of software has dropped massively, and those FPGA-infused Xeons have been failures so far.

Sounds about right for Intel.

So the $30 billion question would then be: "Why!?"
Because Intel essentially took Xilinx's biggest competitor out of the market and it will be a nice reliable profit stream.

I did vote seriously last time. I could not, in good conscience, vote for anyone on the presidential ballot.

I concede that Trump has been worse than I thought possible.

But mostly that post was just making fun of the whole "mail-in voting fraud" hissyfit.

Also, Destro's not a natural-born US citizen in any continuity, to my knowledge. CC needs a new running mate.

The constitution defines treason very strictly(it is the only crime the constitution defines), and no one has ever been found guilty of treason. Not even in the aftermath of the Civil War.

"Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying war against them, or in adhering to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort. No person shall be convicted of treason unless on the testimony of two witnesses to the same overt act, or on confession in open court.

The Congress shall have power to declare the punishment of treason, but no attainder of treason shall work corruption of blood, or forfeiture except during the life of the person attainted."

Fabulously, they've been celebrating their birthday by changing the "box art" of every game they currently publish on Steam. It looks like they ran a script that takes the existing game art tile and pastes it into a random Sega console package template. They got US, EU, and JP templates, and seem to have a template for each package style on platforms with multiple styles(like Genesis, where both checkerboard and red stripe packages are represented)

I wish it wasn't random, though.

This makes my head hurt...

But this is so on-brand I can't argue. That SHOULD be a Saturn game.
