Why would I play ANY home port when my local arcade has a Race Drivin' cab on the floor?

Why bother, Sega?! Cancel the movie, write off a few millions in liabilities, and continue business as usual.
(In other news, Sega just ruined next Valentine's day)
No amount of CGI edits will fix this disaster. If only you had listened to your fans...

Sega would if they could. They signed a deal with Hollywood, believing the studio wanted to make a good movie. Hollywood deals usually give the studio total control, with no way for the licensor to stop it. Same reason the Mario movie happened.

Looks like those guy actually don't want to develop FOSS anymore (or they conveniently forgot what was the meaning of "free software licenses"), and instead are itching to make the jump to Mac/cellphone apps, where they follow the Henry Ford School of Design: "you can have your app in any theme you want, as long as it is Adwaita with our pixel-perfect icons".
I thought this had been the Gnome way for years now.

I find the whole thing hilarious, mostly. But I have a perverse sense of humor.

Hey, Kawa.

The little icons next to the thread titles/forum names are absurdly tiny on my smartphonedatatab in vertical orientation. Zooming doesn't help, as they continue to maintain the same size as the text gets bigger. Flipping it 90 degrees kills the issue.
Confirmed on multiple browsers, which really means "Chrome with a few different names" because the internet is a sad place these days.

Use the default theme instead, please don't theme our pixel-perfect sites.

All joking aside, I actually haven't tested if it is a theme-specific issue.

*changes themes*

Yup, the issue exists in the default theme too.

Garo is not the main villain.

This season does seem to be covering a lot of ground, and I'm worried they're gonna run out of time and omit some of the cool subplots.

> I'd definitely argue they're constructive.

The point is that there's a conflict between the idea of theming, which requires a rigidly-defined list of standard widgets, and the idea that application authors should be allowed to customise widgets or invent new ones if they think it's appropriate. The design of GNOME's desktop (or any desktop) or GNOME's default theme (or any theme) or GNOME's theme API (or any theme API) are not relevant to the discussion, because this conflict has affected every desktop based on every GUI toolkit.

> It's definitely possible you could make a theme that broke everything, but that can be dealt with in accordance with the old adage "play stupid games, win stupid prizes". No need to prohibit it explicitly.

The actual claim is that certain Linux distros are shipping with a non-Adwaita theme that breaks third-party applications in various subtle ways. Sure, end-users can set up whatever crazy theme they like, and if they break things they get to keep both pieces, but Linux distros should be more responsible than that. If you'd written application and got regular "bug" reports from users of Distro X because of Distro X's custom theme, you'd be annoyed too.
As I understand it, the ACTUAL problem is that their applications require certain special behaviors(custom widgets, invented widgets, and just unusual behaviors).
And rather than build these behaviors into their software like everyone else on Earth does, they're baking them into the Adwaita theme. So their software breaks when a non-Gnome theme is used because a lot of other themes don't have all the single-use rules from Adwaita implemented.
...
And Gnome team is claiming Adwaita is a defined API instead of a theme, they shouldn't have to include fallbacks because people aren't supposed to change their API. No, they literally called Adwaita an API.

(oh banks, the only ones that actually come up with mobile payment apps where you can actually pay to nobody due to unfixed frontend bugs!)
Don't think of it is paying nobody, think of it as making a charitable donation to the bank!
...
Yeah, that actually makes it worse. Don't think of it that way.

In case people are worried that mGBA is an inadequate reference for what a Super Game Boy game *should* look like, there's more screenshots of KoF '96 in the classic Fuck The Super Game Boy article. I have no idea what emulator(s) they used to get those screenshots, but given that it's an entire article about the quirks and subtleties of Super Game Boy features, I expect those screenshots should be an accurate representation.
Given the state of emulation in 2010, and Christine Love's in-depth exploration of uncommon SGB features, including Space Invaders and OBJ mode(lol), I'm pretty sure those are screencaps from a real Super Nintendo. I don't recall what byuu's SGB support was a decade ago, but it has to be byuuware or original hardware.

And as a favor to the curious, I'm gonna link the first article in the series so folks can read the entire set of five easily(each contains a link to the next, but not back to the prior)

Sonic the Hedgehog movie, improved. By a fan.

There you go, Paramount. Someone in their garage has done your VFX team's job for you. Tell them to let this guy handle Sonic, and they can focus on making Jim Carrey as round as a beach ball, because Robotnik is hella wrong too.

What happened to the sales & giveaways thread? Or was that on the old board and I'm mis-remembering?

Anyway, Obduction (a surreal adventure game made in 2016 by the creators of Myst) is free for 24 hours on GOG.

But for the browser to block [cryptominers] (while not blocking ads) is incomprehensible.

Advertising is a centuries-old industry, which just about every human interacts with regularly, as a customer or as a consumer. Meanwhile, cryptocurrencies are mostly known for Internet scams and ransomware. It's the same reason alcohol and cigarettes are freely available while other equally- or less-harmful substances are banned: nothing to do with the substances themselves, everything to do with tradition.
There's also the fact that the browser market, such as it is, has been incredibly competitive on battery life and performance lately, to the extent that one company was modifying their websites to trick another's browser into disabling performance and battery optimizations*.

In such a market, allowing any asshat with two pennies to rub together to just hijack the users' processing power to dig for buttcoins is suicide. If a browser could turn off javascript without breaking half the web, they would do it faster than you can blink, because the performance and battery gains would be not-insignificant.

*(That's actually why MS is giving up and making Edge just another Chrome skin, because Google was blue-shelling them repeatedly. They got sick of announcing a benchmark win, having Google sabotage them, and then getting called liars because Google's benchmarks showed Edge performing far worse than MS claimed. According to Edge developers.)
