Why would you even want to emulate a broken, buggy NES-on-a-chip™ "adapter" when you have far better emulators available for your personal computer?

Even if we look it from a preservation aspect... there is not much to preserve here: the Tristar completely sidesteps the SNES audio/video subsystems, and it only uses the SNES hardware for input (there is a ROM, of course... which does little else than polling pad input, and that's it). So yeah, I vote for NO.

Also, if added for some strange reason, it wouldn't be to a decade-old version of bsnes, it'd be to the current development tree.

Because 0.70 is a specific release, not a development branch. New development after that release would go into 0.71. But that's also in the past, so new development would go into .116.

So this... is now an anime.

Hell, it's even streaming mostly worldwide.

I normally don't do subbed-only, but Douki-chan a cutie, and Yomu knows how to draw some serious quality pantyhose, so might pick it someday.

Oh, that looks adorable.

And now, for something slightly different: the ultimate boring Corolla:
https://www.thedrive.com/news/24487/this-400-hp-beater-toyota-corolla-with-a-3s-gte-engine-swap-is-the-ultimate-sleeper

Ugly. Beaten. Hideous. Completely unremarkable. And it can kick your ass every day 'till next year!

...provided those cheapo tires hold all that raw power, of course.
That Corolla is many things, but boring is not one of them. :P

If I might ask, what sort of computer are you running? There's a good chance a 32-bit system isn't really powerful enough for BSNES/Higan anyways(it is part of why 32-bit builds stopped happening), and you would be better served by a "runner-up" emulator.

An Atom? Yeeeeeeeah, that's going to be ungodly slow. Those were built for low power draw, not high performance.

(I'm not sure what I was expecting, but it wasn't that.)

My point was more "there are two standards that do the exact same thing in incompatible ways because market segregation".

Nice pictures. Did you choose to increase your health, magic, or stamina?

I plunked it all into INT (doesn't magic fall under that stat?) :D

I'd bet the radio output never exists in the digital domain. They probably send the analog output of the FM chip straight to the amplifier for the earpiece and headphone port.

Gunbuster was pretty fantastic. Straight outta the OVA golden age, when you could get lotsa money just by saying "I wanna make an anime". The final episode is epic in both scope and presentation.
Never seen Diebuster.

Blast of Tempest was fun as heck, to my recollection. Which is admittedly limited. I mostly remember the scene where the one dude asks if the other dude is hungry and hands him a Snackers bar.

The Japanese industry's 2D game design processes in the 8- and 16-bit era
Street Fighter II paper trails

Aside from some nuggets of evidence to throw at "TVs were never considered for viewing console graphics" and "holy square pixels are always right" ... I really like the part where the Street Fighter 2 devs forgot to reserve space in the ROM for the ending, then found out they'd literally lost a page very early in development and had an entire bank still empty.

But I'm actually annoyed that the article in the first link is saying developers had "a computer monitor and a CRT on their desk". They had TWO CRTs, one was a computer monitor and one was a television!
