    I have no idea.

very impressive numbers for IP over dead snail.
Hey, it is a hundred times faster than dialup!

I'll take the dead snail over dialup any day of the year over CANTV, that's for sure~

On Wi-Fi with an early 2011 MacBook Pro 13:

Still need to not be lazy and test with Ethernet.

Getting my $85 worth, of the total $250 bill.

Sharter Speculum offers 400/20 for less. They're the only competition. AT&T doesn't care, they'll never improve.

    It's better with Ethernet, obviously:

Why are you paying $250 for something your infrastructure can't possibly achieve? Surely the ISP's in your area offer lower speed plans for much cheaper prices that still exceed the capability of your network?

I pay $59.95 AUD for 50/20Mbps and you pay $250 USD for worse...

That $250 includes TV and phone service. It would probably be about $160 with Spectrum.

Ah in that case $160 sounds a lot more reasonable. $250 is still a huge rip off!

And I can't convince my parents to switch, because they think switching will be too much of a pain, and that it will just shoot back up to $250 in a year's time anyway.

After TWENTY TWO months, I finally had to cave in, scavenge some hard currency ($50! You can buy like half a cow with that!), and pay the CANTV Mafia™ to rescue my goddamned phone service:

Cool, the situation has changed for the outlook on switching from U-verse to Spectrum: now my dad is afraid he or my mom could catch the Rona from a service worker, so only Essential workers like plumbers or appliance installers allowed until there's a viable vaccine. Faster and cheaper Internet and TV service isn't "essential", especially when the only other person who uses the connection doesn't notice anything wrong with 45/6. Totally first world problems anyway, amirite?

New symptom of U-verse's 6mbps upstream that Kevin tells me is actually a Forever since the Beginning symptom: iOS FaceTime Live Photo snapshots of the call, when invoked by his end, result in the whole call going to Pure Shit as my iPad struggles as it maxes out the upstream uploading the 4 seconds of higher quality than the actual call video to his iPad to complete my end of his snapshot. No such problem when I snap, as his upstream has always exceeded mine, especially now that it's like 450Mbps.

Connection has been flaky for the last hour, where the phone line dropped dead about 30 minutes ago.

Right now it seems to be back up:

...but I can see some shitbag from the CANTV Mafia stealthy reminding me for the bi-yearly payola :/

    Testing the TD-8616/RTL8029AS:

...is it me or CANTV has become even shittier than usual? Even with the substandard NIC, the results speak for themselves.

Apparently CANTV now sells DSL plans up to 22/2, but I guess in order to get those, you need to live next to the DSLAM, and hope noone steals anything in the way, otherwise you'll be paying $20/mo for 0/0 :P

Hooray, the lightning didn't destroy everything!

Yeah, it "only" destroyed at least a few dozen modems (mine got its CPU zapped, it seems), routers, computers (went to one of my trusted laptop repair shops: they were receiving two corpses of said carnage), and a TV or two in a radius of several blocks. I guess both PC/electronic repair shops and friendly Arab appliances/electronics stores were very happy making a killing today.

...but somehow the DSLAM, cable locker, and junction boxes survived!

My upload speed is now almost my previous download speed.

    My current setup: Super Famicom ("2/1/3" SNS-CPU-1CHIP-02) → SCART → OSSC → StarTech USB3HDCAP → AmaRecTV 3.10
