Digital Foundry: Castlevania Symphony of the Night In-Depth Analysis (or "Why did the Saturn port sucked so much")

Pretty interesting; goes into many technical aspects of the games and PSX/Saturn consoles. Long story short: very little efforts were made to optimize the Saturn port, especially in how it draws stuff on screen.

I think since the Dreamcast launch was near, they probably didn't want to spend the time/money to optimize it for Saturn. The new garden area looks ok, but the overall performance (and bad scaling: see around 4:30) is so bad it's not worth it imo.

Saturn version was also done by a different team, and it was Konami's B-team.

PDFs of the abandonware Sailor Moon table-top role-playing game (you know, like Dungeons and Dragons, but... in sailor suits).

Ah, that explains it then. You always go with the A-Team.

A bunch of professional voice-actors play a three-hour game of Tales of Equestria, the official My Little Pony tabletop RPG. If you watch it with kids, the bawdier jokes *should* go over their heads. Probably.

    https://gbatemp.net/threads/cuphead-is-being-ported-to-tesla-cars.539948/

Elon "I haven't learned to shut up my mouth yet" Musk is now willing to jump into the modern videogame console bandwagon... in the most dangerous possible way: by turning Tesla cars into gaming consoles. He managed to fool the Cuphead devs to bring its game to Model 3/S/X cars.

I wouldn't call the devteam helping them, "porting it over" and it's only one zone/level. I also wouldn't call it launching a console in the slightest since there's no new hardware and he's just giving people a heads up that it'll be possible.

What's the problem? Is it played on the drivers dashboard? Is there some augmented reality display built in to the windshield to use as a monitor?

I think it is actually intended to keep the car's computer occupied so it doesn't stomp on the gas and steer the car into a concrete wall anymore.

Well, the computers usually live, based on Tesla's rapid PR responses that use the computer telemetry to place all blame on the driver that can't defend themselves ever since their Tesla decided to step on the gas and steer into a wall. Seems like more anti-Skynet protocols.

How to piss off any currency collector

Background: I've written before about replacement notes (second to last post here), which you USAians may know as "star notes" (no such luck for you Europoors, as it seems that either their security printers never make mistakes when printing Euros, or they simply don't care about having gaps on their money issues: I ve found no evidence of the "replacement banknote" concept for Euros at all). I found this one yesterday a few blocks down from home. Finding a rare replacement note in this sad state is like going to a museum and watch someone burn a painting just because. Very depressing, really. And I was missing this issue! You can't even use this as a placeholder!

But what's more depressing: the reactions of normal people
    - "It's just money!"
    - "Why you're picking garbage from the streets!"
    - "Not your money, not your business"
    - "God, you're so annoying!!!"

...nevermind the fact any collector (and some speculators) will pay some good premiums for those Z-notes (even for currently circulating notes although you won't find those on MercadoLibre due to their policies), no matter its state as long as they're in one piece.

They live in a country of starvation and set their money on fire? Isn't that like 1/50 of the monthly minimum wage?

Technically, that note is in one piece. In most countries, damaged banknotes are legal tender as long as they aren't dyed and have less than 50% missing. That one has like 10% missing, tops. No idea about the rules in Venezuela, but it should have some value.

Actually 1/400th since April 15th (if you were to be paid with those, you would receive 4 wads). This lone note is not enough for paying the bus fare, but you could buy a lollipop with it.

Since the Great Cash Shortage of 2017, banks stopped exchanging notes under any circumstances (they used to - now they will not do it AT ALL, no matter how you beg). At some point, the Central Bank and local governments even explicitly told banks and retailers to REFUSE damaged bills. I even doubt that the Central Bank itself would want to replace this one (notwithstanding the fact it would involve a very expensive trip to its only two branches in the entire country).

(For future reference: if you have to ask, the answer usually is "that's now how things are done here, dude")

And even in the unlikely event that they were to replace it, at most you would get a random new note - the average nobody can't just go and ask "hey, can you give me another bill with these specific numismatic specifications?". Sadly I'm not at that level of "collector with contacts" yet :/ (there is a separate tier for that, just like in any other country: those "SPECIMEN NO VALUE" sample notes are the proof - one of the many holy grails for collectors, unattainable for most unless you're flush in cash or with VERY good connections inside the banking system)

They reset the money again? Wasn't min wage 5000 bolivars?

No no no, I wasn't implying you had a functioning central bank or anything. But for collecting, someone might be interested if it were legal tender. Hey, look on the bright side: if it isn't legal tender, maybe you could sell it on MercadoLibre.
Did you sell the ones in the archive post, now that they're not circulating anymore?

And even in the unlikely event that they were to replace it, at most you would get a random new note - the average nobody can't just go and ask "hey, can you give me another bill with these specific numismatic specifications?".

I don't even think they'd give you bills. At least here, you'd just get it deposited into your bank account (provided they feel like it - the central bank of course hates cash).
