ANSI Express - A freeware program for viewing ANSI art, like the BBS artscene kind. The site seems to have gone down within the past year or so, so I've linked an archived version. WizTree is like the best of WinDirStat and Everything, a disk space usage analyzer that uses the MFT directly. Of course, that optimization only works with NTFS volumes, but most Windows users are on that, right? |

And Windows also supports ReFS, and Windows Pro for Workstations supports creating partitions in that format. |

I found SpaceSniffer some time after WinDirStat, and like SpaceSniffer's "nested squares" UI quite a lot. http://www.uderzo.it/main_products/space_sniffer/ But I'll look into WizTree to see if it's faster. Also its download button looks rather shady:

Can't remember the last time I downloaded something from CNet, Download.com, Softpedia, or similar scamware sites. I'd say the Steam/GOG/whatever have "ads" alright, just not the way you think. They obviously want to encourage you to buy-buy-buy, so they have a storefront, which advertises new releases and other delights, sometimes even recommendations from your friends, reviews from various feeds, sales, freebies, free to play (often pay to win) titles. Of course, I think only Steam and Epic Games Store have that Free To Play / Pay To Win thing going on. GOG mostly either just gives games away randomly, or expects you to buy them up front, or buy add-ons. No rental games from them. Humble Bundle "sort of" does the rental thing, but the way they've structured their rental thing, you get to keep a selection of games permanently, or at least for the life of your account, assuming you do nothing stupid to get your account banned, or one day decide to request an account deletion. I have yet to decide to participate in this particular rental scheme. Then there's the eternal stupidity that is Apple Arcade. Rental only, and only on Apple devices. At least one game I played will be coming to Steam this year, so I can buy it there. I can't say the same about the other game, whose developers say they are eternally pleased by their deal with Apple Arcade, so it won't be leaving the world of casual tablet/phone and Mac desktop gaming, even though it's a serious long play third person adventure game, with absolute tripe touch controls, (seriously, bring a gamepad), that seriously improved upon the original title in many, many ways. Oh well. |

Posted by kode54 You can avoid all the ad's very easily though, by setting it up to launch when you log in to the O/S. In Windows Steam will not show the daily specials window when the program starts automatically after logging in to Windows... and it defaults to your Game Library view. They've started trying to push advertisements within the Game Library view though with the "What's New" section that you can't disable on the Game Library Home screen. Currently you can configure it to only show Updates to programs you own (I think this was a recent change to the new Library UI). Steam/GOG/whatever sells games. Of course the only ads you're going to see are for the games they sell (even ones you don't want to play ever, like bloody FPS and MMO stuff). You're not going to get an ad on Steam for, say, "join Farcebook", "enjoy Coca-Cola", "VOTE $PRESIDENTIAL_CANDIDATE OR ELSE!", or "drive a Mazda now!". I'm just fine with that. I only wish they customized even more their ads (that's with you, Steam: I'm letting you spy on my gaming habits since I kept feeding cash in the past, so it's time for you lazy bums to learn that I AM NOT GOING TO PLAY AAAAAA+++ GAMES LIKE, EVAR!) Been using Dexpot for years now, but since Windows 10 it has problems with the calculator, control panel and Edge windows of the OS. Checking out the Windows 10 Task View feature again, it does what I want except that you can't switch to a desktop directly via shortcut. Fortunately there's Virtual Desktop Enhancer, an AutoHotKey script & executable that adds that functionality - I only disabled TaskbarScrollSwitching and DesktopWrapping and set SwitchDesktop to LAlt. (Technically still software related) Neat little trick to download videos from YT using VLC: Download/Convert YouTube Videos to Mp4 using VLC Media Player Just copy the text, save it to youtube.luac then place it in VLC's lua/playlist folder. |

If the link doesn't start playing, you might need to update/replace the youtube.luac file located here: https://github.com/videolan/vlc/blob/master/share/lua/playlist/youtube.lua After that you should be able to open the video the way funkyass mentioned. Once it's playing go to tools > codec information and copy the 'location' link. |
