Man, fuck email. ONE JOB, delivering messages, and it can't do it well. At this point, it's just some kind of interop protocol for gmail and friends, since they shitlist most other email providers except for the big ones. Don't even send them to spam, just silently drop their emails without notice. To make matters even worse, email nowadays just means any long-form message (e.g. not IM) sent via a computer/smartphone. "I emailed him about it on Facebook" is a completely valid thing to say.

That nobody came up with the idea of requiring a captcha for each message (rather than just account creation) boggles the mind. That would make your service completely useless to spammersanyone but hardcore nerds, while still allowing senders to remain anonymous to everybody but China/the NSA/FSB/Jeff Bezos secretary.

I used to write frontends for super nintendo and neo geo emulators back in the mid to late 90's. The interface for NeoRage was based on my front end and SNeeSE ripped off some of my art from my homepage. But i never got any positive feedback until i said i was done writing frontends.

It is pretty hard to find out what would be popular or useful or who appreciates your work. The more people get overloaded and distracted on the net due to social media and such, the less feedback you get. Nowadays there is a lack of contact information on a lot of pages and you can't send someone a love note.

I really think that git hub / git lab should have some kind of way to shout encouragement and thanks at programmers rather than just starring things or submitting issues. Cuz it's nice to get some love or at least feedback.

Or at least, they could. Apparently, Safari and Chrome have both removed the ability to turn off link auditing, which I find mystifying since it seems to me like the whole point of adding this to HTML was to lure websites into doing link auditing client-side where it can be controlled. Firefox, on the other hand, has supported link auditing since 2006, and had it disabled by default since 2008.

reicast-libretro seems to work pretty well. It had quite a few improvements vs standalone, though I believe they either recently were or soon will be merged into upstream master, as well. Were you using a stable release or building from latest git?

It's a bit barbaric, but you can just download libpng12.so.0 and load it with LD_LIBRARY_PATH. Seems to work fine on my machine, tested it with Crazy Taxi and it did boot, although I didn't have any controllers configured so couldn't test any further.

On the same note, while it's a bit ugly, you should be able to set up a VM of Debian Jessie, make a static or even freestanding build, and then be good to go everywhere without any dependencies other than Linux ABI. Glibc doesn't like static linking, so you might have to use the forbidden technique of unity builds.

Did a quick search for open source Dreamcast objects, came across washington-DC.

It seems like the emulator to support if you care about Linux support and Open Source. Still in early development too. But yeah, only supports like 3 games at the moment...

The more I learn where proprietary software is headed, the more i realize Stallman was right on the money all along.

There are today open source applications as good as or even better than professional versions for content creation. Apps like Krita or Audacious.

So, if they ever try it... No in fact I dare them to try it. :)

Now I've got another problem: the RTC drifts too much when the system is shut down, and for making things more interesting, this one of the very few PCCHIPS crud that actually uses a RTC module (originally a Houston Tech brick o' doom, but I'm running a legit DS12887A on mine), so looks like I'll have to rework it Soon™, just like the one on my 386.

Why not just use NTP? Do you need accurate time while booting for anything?

Anyway, I replaced the CPU: an underclocked Pentium MMX 233 for a slightly overclocked 200 part (75Mhz bus x 3.0 = 225MHz; none of those will run stable at 262.5MHz with the 3.5 multiplier) which I had used with this very system for like 5 years before swapping with with the underclocked part.

Is that even enough for ZSNES?
