SCI VGA Graphics viewer thing

RJD Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't there use to be a tool available on Brian's site that could take some views from VGA games?
Nychold I think the only downloads directly from the SCI Studio homepage are for EGA, SCI0 tools only. However, Brian was sending out beta copies of SCI Studio 4 (which had support for viewing/extracting VGA resources) to some people who donated, but I'm not sure if he still does. As for other, non-SCI Studio tools, it's possible on his AGI/SCI page there are some tools, or links to tools for extraction of SCI VGA graphics, but I don't remember seeing any.

Endroz Hi,

you may also want to look at Vladimir Gneushev's web page, for his View View 2 program. Actually, it only allows to view, not to extract.

RJD Thanks for your help. I'll look into these.
RJD Neither ViewView 2 or Brians program work with SQ4 or the SQ1 Remake! Any suggestions, or do I just have to wait?
AGI1122 Well I suggest wait for SCI Studio VGA... as that definately works on SQ4 and SQ1 remake.
dreamweaver SciResDump work .
and sciunpack from freesci 0.61b works too.
Endroz

Try SCI Decoder EGA/VGA from this link, chances are it will work for SQ: ???

RJD. Thanks guys. I'll hafta try these.
RJD. Well...it's been a little while since we talked bout this but...I have found a way to extract some views from a vga game, but in Brian's VGA view editor the palatte was all black. "No problem" I thought, and I changed the pallatte, but it was still all black! Any insight? Am I being ridiculously stupid? Do you need more info? Etc?
Endroz Maybe it's not just the palette being black... it doesn't recognize the picture format at all.. ???
RJD. I dumped it to a .v56 so it should work
Endroz The problem is that the v56 format has been changed by Sierra over time. There are basically 4 different formats of v56 images, SCI1, SCI1.1, SCI32 and SCI32v3 all ship with slightly different formats. I'm afraid that VGA View Editor only supports the older SC1 format (Police Quest, Eco Quest and so on)
RJD at school Well, that stinks. I'll just have to wait for SCI STUDIO VGA. Ah well, thanks anyways.
