Some comments about "The Ultimate AGI & SCI Web Site"

juncmodule This site sucks...okay not really, actually I LOVE this site, I LOATHE downloading things from it.

How much webspace does it take up? I may be willing to offer 20MB on my server if you are interested Brian, or if that is enough. I would rather not do the whole mirror thing just so that I can get something out of it ;) perhaps setting up a subdomain like..."agisci.juncmodule.com"?? Let me know what you think.

Eero R Yeah, downloading files from there is nearly impossible... Subdomain would be a good idea.
Robert Matjus I dont really know much about that...but...I LOVE that anyway!!!! Good commercial site!
Eero R Um, what do you mean under commercial? If you mean "The Ultimate AGI & SCI Web Site", then you're problably wrong...
Robert Matjus I mean, taht that site is Commercial! That site made up some people...or one Inc.? Well, maybe i'm wrong
Robin_Gravel Brian could move agi/sci website to www.bripro.com

Robin Gravel
AGI1122 I doubt he would be able to move it to bripro.com, I host alot of files on my site for bripro.com which I think means there isn't alot of room on his site left.
Brian_Provinciano I have very little space on bripro.com, so all I really store there are pages and images. Many thanks to Chris for hosting my files. I can't fork out the money for more web space at bripro.com.

The Ultimate AGI & SCI Web Site is just a normal site, by me. ClassicGamaing (GameSpy) hosts it for free, and as a result, I have to have their banner ad on it, and host my zip files on fileplanet. If someone is willing to host the zip files, I will move them from fileplanet. However, the site _is_ huge, most likely larger than you all think. It contains nearly 200mb of zips.

It's not a commercial site, I'm the only one who works on it ;) --TUA&SWS Since 1998
juncmodule In that case I have even a better idea. If Chris will walk me through setting up a FTP for you on my site then I will host BriPro.com for FREE. In addition to that I could host some of the more needed files on AGISCI (meaning files that are not somewhere else right now). I could host the actual pages and a good chunk of the images as well. Although I have a lot of webspace (500MB) I have limited bandwidth (10GB). That is why I only offered 20MB. Let me know what you think.

AGI1122 Do you have cpanel? If not then I can't really help you because that's what I used to set up ftp for Brian.
juncmodule Yep, I have CPanel. I have followed the instructions in the CPanel manual but it doesn't seem to work. The FTP name and folder are there, but I can't seem to log into it. If you can't walk me through it easily then I will just go to tech support with my host. If it's simple and you can help it would be greatly appreciated.

I would offer some webspace, but unfortunately, I've got exactly the same webspace and bandwidth as juncmodule...

Well just click the ftp link in cpanel and add a username and password.

Remember the username will be the same as the folder you give him. For instance, Brian's username is scistudio which connects to the folder scistudio: http://www.agigames.com/scistudio/

Also note that the ftp server/host name should be the same as the default one you use to login. For instance Brian connects to ftp.agigames.com with his username and password. If you typed in ftp.yoursite.com/scistudio/ for your servername, that is wrong.

Anyway this is all the info I can give you, if your host doesn't have ftp setup correctly then you will have to talk with them.
juncmodule Okay!! I finally figured it out! For some reason when I set up sub-ftp accounts the username must be followed by @juncmodule.com

So, Brian, are you intersted?
Brian_Provinciano I can upload via FTP, but don't want to serve them off an FTP. The files should be served via HTTP. I wouldn't move the site, just the files. Are you talking about hosting the files?
juncmodule Well, I was talking about hosting the site. If you don't need that though then I can host a few files (20MB worth) just as a mirror.

I was mainly thinking of relieving any costs you pay to keep Bripro.com banner free. I have it set up so you can FTP into a special folder on my site at http://bripro.juncmodule.com. But, if you're okay with how that is set up now...

As far as just hosting files for Ultimate AGISCI...you don't really need FTP access for that. I can just build a page and you can link directly to the files from the existing site as mirrors.

Do you have any way of keeping track of how many times a certain file on fileplanet has been downloaded? I figure I could host the ones that are hit the most. I'm not sure if you are aware of it but, I know in the past I have hit some dead links on that site. I think mostly in the games section though. I don't really want to host any games though. So many other AGI sites exist that it's not neccessary. I already host all but one SCI game...I think...at juncmodule.com. So of course I'm thinking of the AGI/SCI tools sections.

Brian_Provinciano BriPro.com is fine. I need it to be at www.bripro.com, and am fine paying for my 20MB for that.

However, I would be interested if anyone can host the 200mb of AGI&SCI zip files. Though, I'm not moving that site either, just the files.
