Andrew Ulysses Baker. If I'm not mistaken, Ulysses is the most prominent book by James Joyce (but it's far in my memory, been more than two years since I've heard anything about it)

I wouldn't say that about him, but his stream of consciousness writing method makes reading his books a real pain in the ass. After I read A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man, I was very much exhausted. Especially since chapter 3 tells you more about hell than you'd ever want to know in your lifetime. It's enough to render one atheist.
