Hi everyone. First of all I'd like to thank Brian for all the work he's done with creating this program and letting us download it for free! Thank you. I just downloaded SCI studio and opened Larry 2 and played around a bit. First question: I wasn't able to download the tutorial or the help files is there a mirrorsite I can download from? Second: I would also like to use AGS, is it possible to export backgrounds, animation and text from SCI studio? If not can someone recommend a god program that can do that? Third: I also would like to not only export the in-game text but also view the script. When I for instance write OPEN DOOR in the game and get the response THE DOOR IS LOOKED, is there any way of seeing this in the SCI studio, the text-response to an action? And export the information? Hope you understand my questions. Regards Mason |

Hi Ok what I want to do is a remake of Larry2 in Adventure GameStudio. Simply make it point and click instead of text-parser. In order to do that I need to export everything, the backgrounds, the text, the animations and so on. But I figured out that I really couldn't do this in SCI Studio, right? The only thing I can export from SCI is the in-game text. But I can't see or change the script. Am I right? I still would like to download the help-files and the tutorial for SCI Studio, could someone please fix the links or give me a link to a mirrorsite where I can download them. Thank you. /mason |

That's right: you can't see the script. The only reason for this is that it's almost impossible. It's totally impossible to see the original script, and seeing a decompiled, reconstructed script might be slightly possible, but it's not on Brian's TODO list, and I wouldn't want to attempt it, either. Mokalus of Borg PS - It is possible to disassemble scripts, but that's about it. PPS - You'll have to make do with manual reverse-engineering. |

You don't need to see the game's scripts to make LSL2 remakes. Just extract views and backgrounds. Hmm. Remaking games became popular since Tierra King's Quest and Tierra King's Quest 2 is now out. Just wondering. Why not making a new LSL game unstead remaking them. I like to see more Larry games. For more help with AGS, go to AGS forum http://www.agsforums.com/yabb/index.php#2 Robin Gravel |

If you want to download the tutorial, do what I did, simply click on the page number and go to your file and click on 'save as' then go to the directory which you want to download the tutorial page to. I downloaded every single page of the tutorial on it, so that in case I need something from it, I don't have to go on line. But the help file is huge, and I don't want to spend hours on end downloading every page. As for extracting views/pics etc, well, I want to know this, how do you extract a view or pic and put it in my game, I'd really like to know, thanks. Just wondering. Why not making a new LSL game unstead remaking them. I like to see more Larry games. Well I got interested in SCI initially because I wanted to retard games. If you don't get what I mean, take this for example. QFG 3, 4 and 5 are in VGA. So I thought, while Tierra and other people are hard at work to make VGA remakes and advance the game, I thought I'd retard a couple of games myself. As in, I'd make QFG 3, 4 and 5 in SCI or even AGI, just to see how stupid they would look ;D I know it's really hard to remake them perfectly, but being able to copy and modify Scripts would be a more interesting, but I won't rant for anything, Brian is putting in a lot of work and I'll leave him to decide. |

If you want to download the tutorial, do what I did, simply click on the page number and go to your file and click on 'save as' then go to the directory which you want to download the tutorial page to. Yes I could, but then I have to change the hyperlinks...It would be easier if someone just fixed the link so that we can download the tutorial. You don't need to see the game's scripts to make LSL2 remakes. Just extract views and backgrounds. I know, but it would be easier (you must think I'm really lazy hehe) :) Just wondering. Why not making a new LSL game unstead remaking them. I like to see more Larry games. I'm not really planning on making a complete larry2 remake. I'm just playing around to learn AGS, and I thought the best way was to try a remake since I dont have to draw my own backgrounds then. (Everyone shouts: You lazy bastard!) As for extracting views/pics etc, well, I want to know this, how do you extract a view or pic and put it in my game, I'd really like to know, thanks. Me too! I dont think you can in SCI studio though. I think I'll use the program ScreenThief and take two screenshots from every room then cut and paste (to get rid of the animations). In order to get the animations I'll use SCI studio press Prt Scr to get the animations. Well I got interested in SCI initially because I wanted to retard games. Retarding games is cool! //Mason |
