SCI is Dead.

?? SCI is dead,

i dont know why you people bother making these low-quality games. BUT if you are that desparate, then do whatever you like. But i think everybody should look into the future (3D).

As for you Brian...continue making SCI Studio, but as i said (SCI is Dead!) but if you are going to make SCI Studio VGA, i recommend you put in support for 32 Bit Colour, not the crappy 256 colours with the current free adventure game engines (www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk for one is the crappyest engine ever, it's surposed to have Win XP support but it doesn't really!)

Seriously, make support for more clours, but keep everything else the same as the usual sierra SCI games!

But after you finish SCI Studio VGA i recommend you give up SCI & build something Bigger & better!

ciao.
Kon-Tiki Hey, I don't like 3D games. I found it a pitty that SCI-games weren't made anymore, so the possibility for fans to make their own games and resurrect SCI is one of the best things around. Don't go bashing it just because you like a different kind of games.
As for the colours: I get sick (almost have to puke :-X :-

As for the colours: I get sick (almost have to puke :-X :-[ ) when playing/seeing some of those 'ultra-realistic' games (even Blood with a graphical card did that to me.) I enjoy the 256 colours and they don't make me nausceous, so let that be.

stop fighting technology, your a looser! Colours & 3D Graphics are the best thing that happened to the computer industry!
mr-t Excuse me, but I think that if you are wanting to bash SCI, then you should go to another site. AGI and SCI were not built on graphics, rather the emphasis was on gameplay. Too many games these days concentrate too much on graphics, and not enough on gameplay.
jelleghys @ guest ??: Can u explain me what you're trying to do? We love making games (with good stories, and low-quality pic's as you call them) and you? What can you do? Trying to convince people to make "high-tech" games with "good 3D graphics"! Why? We do what we want to do!

So want don't you try to make a 3D high tech game! Go ahead! But don't come here and write down things in which we aren't interessed at all!

We are free to make games we like, aren't we?

I'm not fighting technology. I really became sick when playing Duke Nukem 64 at a friends lots of years ago. Same thing happened while watching a friend play Blood with a high-tech video card a couple of years ago.

??. If you want making 3d games, the net is plenty of engines 3d. SCI is not death and Agi is not
death too because I like playing fanmade AGI and SCI.

To Brian: keep up the good work with sci studio (ega and vga).

This topic smells bad and should be locked.

Kon-Tiki Better yet: just delete it.

What I find amazing is this... Somehow this guy found this site, which means he was either searching for information on SCI games, or an actual classic Sierra SCI game. So, if he is such a great fan of the 3D genre, why is he searching for SCI games?

Something to think about...
rwfromxenon He probably went to classicgaming.com, found Brian's site, then found this forum.

Thought about it ;)

-Allyb-
MDanihy1 Even though... I have been to classicgaming.com and never really noticed the link until I searched for it.

AND! Since he is a fan of the new 3d styles, why would he be looking at a classic gaming site?

Again, something to think about.

My point is, if he is such a follower of the new technologies, why would he care about 80's gaming?
AGI1122 Sorry to burst your bubble but this board isn't just about AGI and SCI, it also has os programming... infact this board was an os programming board... then one day df added AGI and SCI sections to it.

What exactly was this in reference to?
AGI1122 It was in reference to the fact that people might not be looking for AGI or SCI(which is what you stated... you said they might have been searching for it)... he could have been looking for something else and stumbled upon this. As I said this board isn't just AGI and SCI.
MDanihy Actually, I think the word IF implied that this was a possibility. And following the thread, it continued onto his posibility of finding this through a classic gaming site...

Just trying to find the path that led him here.

Chris, I understand this board isn't just AGI & SCI, but
say 'sci games are not a good thing' is not a good place
to say. Since you're a moderator, could you please lock this topic?

Brian_Provinciano Hello "210.8.232.3"/ "??"/"Mr Croatia"/"Mr Hrvatska!"/"n/a":

As I said, we aren't doing SCI stuff for the 320x200 low-res graphics, we do it because of nostaligia. Many of us, myself included, grew up playing the great Sierra adventures using these engines, and always had the dream of creating our own "Sierra games". It's far more exciting to be working with the original engine such greats as Al Lowe and Scott Murphy worked with, than with a regular home brew engine.

Finally, I myself do like 3D stuff as well, but there's far more to them, and impossible for just one person to do a high quality 3D game. For one, I can't draw the 3D rendering of characters and worlds. The 3D games you see have huge teams behind them. Some people work on the wire frames, while others work on the textures, for example. Why bother us to move to something else? Why not just find other people who already do 3D stuff?

There are endless forums with people who are devoted to 3D games, like we are devoted to SCI games. There are also many forums devoted to other adventure game engines that would fit your preference. Now what made you decide to bother us? You just barge in and start reaping havoc on everything!? If you don't smarten up real fast, I'll ban you.

Comments like "your a looser" are not welcome. By the way, get some education. The correct comment would have been "you're a loser" or "you are a loser". If you can't even speak English, let alone do computer programming. I suggest you don't bother us on what we should and should not be doing.
