    Milestone Danbooru posts:

    #1: shimapan catgirl from a well known h-game series - May 23, 2005
#1M: hot Velma, anime style by a Canadian drawfag - September 20, 2011
#2M: some random shipgirl flashing some panties - May 1st, 2015
#3M: cute mandarin orange foxgirl (she DOES have her own Pixiv tag!) - January 27, 2018
#4M: Pool: Scenery Porn by some baka gaijin - today July 14th, 2020

    And just today:

#5M: some VTuber waifu with... bloody boobs - December 23th, 2021

    >6 years -> <4 years -> <3 years -> >2 years -> 17 months -> ????

The race for the 5Mth GET came with interesting side effects: as a good example, Touhou's latest and greatest fairy, Eternity Larva, got a truckload of new uploads (about 300 new posts, or well over half of the current post count for her tag a week ago!) in the last few days... all by the same uploader, who went on a rampage of scraping every single Pixiv and Twitter feed of Touhou artists he/she could find for art not yet uploaded on Danbooru. Can't complain, 'cuz bug fairies are cute~

Chloe with blood splatter? Kind of makes sense when you consider orcas are psychopathic murder sea pandas that tailslap other animals for fun.

I still have no idea what I'm talking about.

Aside from some nuggets of evidence to throw at "TVs were never considered for viewing console graphics" and "holy square pixels are always right" ... I really like the part where the Street Fighter 2 devs forgot to reserve space in the ROM for the ending, then found out they'd literally lost a page very early in development and had an entire bank still empty.

But I'm actually annoyed that the article in the first link is saying developers had "a computer monitor and a CRT on their desk". They had TWO CRTs, one was a computer monitor and one was a television!

Just spotted this at the nearest Chinesium supermarket, between the totally-not-expired butter and the 9000+ Tide clones:

    Fake breakfast cereals, by Kallog'z®

Supposedly those come from Colombia (which has an historical reputation over here on "shady business"), but knowing those Chinese, I suspect that the "MADE IN COLOMBIA" printings on those boxes most likely are fake too.

No fucking way in hell I'm eating that garbage... not that the average Venezuelan can afford it in first place, but then, the legit Kellogg's left the Venezuelan market a few years ago. But then, the commies seized the production plants after that so they continued the production of "legit" Corn Fakes®... now with government labels (unfortunately the "HECHO EN SOCIALISMO" stickers are not coming back), and without a valid license from Battle Creek, Michigan.

Apparently, you can get away with around 20% sawdust if this Food Theory episode is anything to go by.

As long as the sawdust isn't from pressure-treated lumber, anyways...

Germans got it right: still not vaxxed against China Pest? (WHY?!) Well, your jab is waiting for you inside a frickin' military Airbus! You get your shot AND a tour inside an airplane most mere mortals* wouldn't even dream of getting this near.

If only they issued vax cards engraved in metal dogtags instead of filmsy paper or shitty cellphone crapps...

Yeah, I'd sign up for that even though I'm already fully vaxxed. I always thought the A400s looked really cool, that and the C17, and the C130, heck I just like planes. :D

We have plastic cards here with QR codes they scan and cross check with your driver's license if you ever want to have a sit-down at any dining establishment.

Sure looks it. I dig the backgrounds though, probably taken from some stock photo pack or something and then downscaled for the system.

Pretty sure "borrowing" things from random pieces of media was really common in Japanese-developed games.

JWZ tries to play PlayStation games... again.

Someone should have the guts to tell this guy that...

    - his Mac most likely doesn't have enough muscle to run PS3 games at any acceptable speeds (or for quality PS2 emulation)
    - he needs to get his hands wet AND TO FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS DOWN TO A T if he really wants to get serious with disc-based console emulation - it's not like NES emulators where "1) load ROM, 2) play game"!
    - he needs to stop asking about piracy, even on his personal blog (which seems to be very popular, so a easy magnet for lawsuits)
    - he should stick away from messing with console internals without following proper servicing procedures. Oh, and that optical drive PCBs have been "married" to consoles since the X360/PS3 era!

But hey, this is the same asshole that still believes that stable Linux distros must not exist, that Linux itself is still a dumpsterfire of teenager-developed software, that Apple is still the solution (even whe he has been actively fighting against his own Apple gear in the last 5 years at least), that holding a grudge against Microsoft in 2022 is still fine, and that everybody and their dog are fudging the numbers to get him to catch China Pest and die, despite the fact he still runs his (tanking) nightclub... which is the last place on Earth where I would want to be in the middle of a deadly pandemic. But sadly, that's JWZ for you.

Have you purged XScreenSaver out of your machine yet? Do it NOW. No computer deserves to run assholeware, no matter how useful it is, because when the day you will need support eventually comes, you would be facing an asshole straight away, and that often doesn't lead to useful solutions.

Some very bored idiot just done this shit: spoofing ADS-B traffic (and getting banned from flight tracking websites):
    https://nitter.eu/MathieuPeyrega/status/1502205679175675912

As much as I hate Put-It-In, what this idiot is doing is extremely wrong in many ways:

    1) Spoofing ADS-B traffic can be criminally dangerous (this guy just used a transceiver box directly wired to a FR24 receiver, but nothing stops any asshole -including murderous dictators- from doing the same with highly powered antennas!)

    2) Seriously, this is a disrepect to the memory of the late An-225, as much as I want to get Put-It-In haunted for life by the ghost of Mriya with the souls of the Ukrainian children massacred by the Russian thugs as passengers.

    3) The last thing we need right now is more fake news, you dipshit!

    4) Way to point the obvious flaws on ADS-B... and potentially ruin flight tracking fun for the rest of us that just like tracking random planes in the air. What do you want, a proper replacement with heavy crypto that can't be cracked unless you want to end in prison? (for military aircraft there is Mode-5, which is illegal to decrypt)

    Man, I hate Twitter.

I'm pretty sure a YouPotato video about the Super Nintendo's graphics was linked in here a while back, including the math-heavy mode 7 explanation.

Same dude did a video on Atari VCS graphics recently. Much lighter on the math, but no less headache-inducing.
Every time I'm reminded precisely how minimal this hardware is, I think about how it is a minor miracle anything actually works on this hardware.

Horrible edge cases to consider when dealing with music

If your favorite artist abuses Unicode, exploits Wikipedia disambiguation pages, or uses the same names as 20 other artists, consider calling a psychiatrist. Or an exorcist. Or you may be listening to doujin music.

    Behold, the ThinkPad Z15!

    Two lucky finds:
    - The ThinkPad is actually a T40, yet another family heirloom of sorts. Needs a new HDD, battery is dead as a doorstop, it could benefit from a Dothan CPU upgrade, already maxed out RAM and unlocked the miniPCI slot for swapping in some Atheros 802.11n love. Apparently these were the final pre-Lenovo ThinkPad designs, also love that the plastics are mainly MADE IN JAPAN.
    - As for the replacement banknote: normally those God-tier low serials go for $doubledigits (and in the case of replacements, $100 is not so unlikely depending on condition). I actually paid $3 for it from my usual sources :D Extremely lucky find, considering that you won't see one outside of an auction catalog!
