I've only listened to 1:36, but why do many of the piano notes seem to have a sudden increase in volume, a split-second after they begin?

the magic of foot pedals notably the sustain pedal

I wish there was a tag for "I know you know this or it doesn't matter whether you know it or not but I just want to say it for no particular reason at all".

Isn't that the default state of bboard posts?

    Oh? Hi.

Nicholas Steel ??? Wareya isn't attacking you.
    Kakashi Bye.
wareya I wish there was a tag for "I know you know this or it doesn't matter whether you know it or not but I just want to say it for no particular reason at all".
Kakashi Hey, take my opinion for what you will.
wareya It's an electric piano! (i.e. it's just *supposed* to sound different. for example, electric keyboards had much softer harmonics and harder/cleaner attacks (no hammer noise) than real pianos for a long time, so jazz groups preferred them based on sounding less harsh when mixed in with tons of highly dissonant stuff, as jazz goes. same reason jazz guitarists generally play with very relaxed tone.)
Kakashi This pianist sounds nervous as heck. Also, I guess I'm just spoiled by getting to hear a real piano at work, but sustain and reverb just doesn't sound right. (Yes, I know he's playing NES music, but it's on a *piano*)
CaptainJistuce That is both awesome and stupid at the same time. I'm impressed and confused.
KingMike Well, now we know how you can get the MSU-1 experience on an NES game: hire this guy to be your human MSU pack. ;)
Like the chat did, really have to applaud the pianist for being able to keep at it for the entire hour+ it took the runner to finish the game.

This does not actually go there and I regret nothing.
