So you're saying there should be an edit button visible on all posts when logged out, even though when you're logged in you only get edit links on your own posts (assuming you're not staff), even though no other board I know of does this?
One other board dared to let you edit all posts. RIP BBoard 1.

Collectors don't buy shit. Serious collectors won't even look at images of shit.

Unless they're coprolith collectors.

Wasn't the Windows one because of hardware limitations?

I don’t think so. You can do a lot better with just black and white.
Well, yes, but that's only if you have the financial might of Xerox funding your research, or the temerity to copy Xerox's software and then sue others for ripping you off.

Pretty much. They also harassed Digital Research about Gem, even over petty things like colored title bars.

And like I said, it takes a certain temerity to sue people for copying your copy.

Man, I don't get why anyone USES GTK 3.X.

I know there's the "upgrade from GTK 2 because newer versions are better" angle, but it isn't actually a newer version of GTK 2. It is a fundamentally different thing managed by fundamentally different people, and has proven wildly unreliable for anyone not named Gnome.
As near as I can tell, no one actually LIKES GTK 3, and it is used solely because people liked GTK 2.

SWEET MERCIFUL ALTHENA, JUST STOP TALKING.
Social darwinism was disproved over half a century ago. The lower classes are not actually genetically inferior.

This is an exceptionally uncomfortable argument as here in America we've substituted classism for racism since shortly after overt racism became illegal, so it is difficult to not read that as "people of color are poor because they are genetically inferior to white folk", though I'm fairly sure that was not your intention.

BUT even ignoring that... America has also had a few decades of overt class warfare as the richest people have made a quite successful attempt to destroy the middle class, fattening their own wallets at the expense of society. The middle class shrinks more every year, with the vast majority of those households falling down the ladder rather than moving up.
So either everyone that isn't rich is mutating to become genetically inferior, OR social darwinism is a load of complete hogwash, social class has nothing whatsoever to do with genetics, and you're full of shit.

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/granzella/r-type-final-2-aiming-for-a-brand-new-the-best-shmup-ever

Things to take away from this:

1. MOAR R-TYPE!!!
2. R-Type Final 2 is a terrible name.
3. Granzella is bad at Kickstarter. I only just found out about this and it is the last day. Last half-day, I guess.
4. For two and a half grand, you can get them to record custom audio for your copy of the game, so you can have the launch sequence flight controller SAY YOUR NAME when you start a game. That's ridiculously awesome. For ten grand, you get a custom fighter, unique to you, with personal naming rights. This is, somehow, less awesome.
5. I'm sad they are very clearly not making it to the two million dollar stretch goal, because it would be nice for R-Type Final 2 to have one more fighter than R-Type Final did.

He's bullshitting just a little bit saying that R-Type Final was the "last game", since a bunch of PSP games and remakes came out after...
It was the last "real" R-Type, since the PSP games were SRPGs instead of scrolling shooters.

Sega apparently showed off a fucking PANZER DRAGOON REMAKE, and I am having trouble believing this is a thing that is actually happening. I thought Sega forgot they owned this.
It isn't April first, is it? I need it to not be April first right now. Someone tell me this is real.

Oh yeah, played the original on a rented Saturn back in '95.

I don't know why I expected Battle Arena Toshinden in that blind link.

Game was pretty impressive back then but I don't know how well the on-rail gameplay would hold today...as weird as it sounds looking back at the original with all its jankiness, the game was more of a technical showcase, I think (plus it had a very impressive orchestral soundtrack).

I'd call it an art game. It cares a lot about aesthetics, and the soundtrack ties into that. Which is a sound approach for a rail shooter, really. You have a fixed path with a fixed travel time, so you can control the player's view of the world to a much greater degree.
Were it designed a few years later, it would've been a light gun game. That's where all the rail shooter development wound up.

I think PD Orta showed that the game concept can still hold up in the modern era. Though semi-related Crimson Dragon bombed horribly(which seems to be largely credited to the publisher micromanaging development).

Whether it was good or not had little to do with whether it was hype or not.
...
Though I think Toshinden's success had a lot to do with being a 3D fighter in a time when there weren't many. According to teh wikis, it actually introduced z-axis movement into the genre, almost a year before Soul Edge. It could be argued as the FIRST 3D fighter.

Teh wikis also reminds me that it was a Playstation game first. I only ever saw the Saturn version.

Speaking about MS, they're still thinking about releasing their Chromium skin Edge for Linux:
https://tech.slashdot.org/story/19/06/14/142256/microsoft-edge-might-come-to-linux

...why?! At this stage, I would actually want a native MSIE port (yes, that's real evil, but then so is Chrome). Trident and Presto need urgently to come back from the dead, evolve, and give some serious fight to the Webkit/Blink hegemony (since Mozilla is too busy with their art school dropout designers to actually care about Making Gecko Great Again)
MS gave up on making their own rendering engine because Google was actively sabotaging them by embedding anti-Edge code in their websites. It sucks, but when you only supply the browser, the company that supplies the browser and content gets to dictate everything.

You know, if intellect is genetic, people of similar intellect interbreed because like attracts like, and socio-economic status is dictated primarily by intellect... how come two of my grandparents had children land in all levels of society from poor to comfortably middle class(until the economic crash at the turn of the century wiped out their retirement fund) to literal millionaire*?

I can, with a single generation, disprove your hypothesis.

*Incidentally, it is a fortune only made possible because he was financially well-off in his youth, as he had access to computers and the free time to play with them at a time when computers were fairly expensive, but anybody that owned one and had the time to play with them could write major commercial software.
