Windows 95 has virtual address spaces. You probably meant DOS or Windows<=3.11.

I... never had an issue with it on Byuu's forum and I'm using an ancient CPU (though with videos performance is largely dependent on the video card and the number of videos simultaneously playing).

The website you linked to only consumes 13% of my CPU and 3% of the GPU. [...] Youtube video embeds don't automatically play afaik so other than the time it takes to load video players there shouldn't be much if any performance nor network impact until you click Play?

It's the loading time that's an issue. A page like this takes a few seconds, utilizes all 4 cores of my work machine to at least 50% (and raises their temperature to 70°C, causing the fan to spin up).

Give me a panel, several inputs, and a TV tuner. Nothing more, nothing less. I don't even want USB ports on a TV! Leave that job to the pros, that is, media boxes, PCs, and everything else.

That's why I got a Sharp LC-48CFE4042E (48", 1080p, no smart features) and a Minix Neo U1 box. Not a perfect media player by any means (old Android version, no power/support for h.265/10-bit h.264) but that's what the HDMI cable coming from the PC is for.

People play their games on PC, because there is no good reason to do it anywhere else. The only reason you'd want to get a console anyway would be either exclusives (and nobody wants to pay $300 for a game) or split-screen multiplayer (which nobody plays anymore). Same goes for portable gaming. When I was younger, people used to have Nintendo DSes, but nowadays everyone would just use their phone if they'd want to play games on the train or where-ever.

Most of the casual players I know of play on console, because of the "plug and play" experience / exclusives / friends also playing on console.

And aren't Zelda games often cited as the reason for buying a Nintendo console? Including handhelds such as the Gameboy(s) or the Switch.

As for the HDMI thing, I don't mean that it's rare, but that if you'd want to connect a computer, VGA is slightly more common. But this might be a function of that people would rather permanently station some old laptop under it permanently connected than move them back and forth each time you want to watch movies.

HDMI supports audio. That's one big reason to use it.

In mpv and VLC, all you have to do is drag and drop the audio file on the video and it attaches. And at least in mpv, it automatically adds any audio file with the same name in the same folder as a new audio track to choose. Of course this doesn't work if you have multiple dubs (unless you put them in one .mka file with multiple streams), but if you only have one official dub you'd like to ship it should be fine.

Also, you can bundle the international encodes (raws/non-hard fansubs) for convenience. Then you could back up just the audio files, and only keep a temporary copy of the video for seeding that can be found elsewhere anyway.

It's curious that only Russia does it this way, while the rest of the world still insist on muxing everything into one file. It would become much easier to make fansubs if you don't have to worry about the legal aspect of it all or bother with encodes.

If the streams are separated into several files, people may only download the files they're interested in, making it harder to ensure the torrent's completeness. Sooner or later the unpopular files are no longer backed by the swarm.

- I wouldn't expect MS to tolerate it
- How did they determine the files responsible for the spyware? 2GB sounds like a lifelong project.
- How can we be sure there is no non-MS spyware?
- There seems to be nothing else on the web about it.

A suspect born on 2000-02-29 was charged with a crime committed on 2018-02-28. If you count March 1st to March 1st, she's legally an adult and can be tried as such. However, if you count February 28th to February 28th, she's a day short of her 18th birthday and should be tried as a minor.

The law says "18 years", not "18 birthdays"...

Using some simple Excel formulas: 2018-02-28 - 2000-02-29 = 6574 days / 365.2425 = 17.9986310746064, i.e. 17y 364d 21h 3m 36s. So her age might actually need to be calculated to the minute.

[...] This is the common meaning of "how old are you," and it gives 17 in this case.

Common meaning doesn't matter in court.

Shitlist this patch on your next WU visit: KB4493132
https://support.microsoft.com/help/4493132/windows-7-update-kb4493132
This is the "GET HERPES WINDOWS 10 OR DIE!" nagware patch that tells you that Win7 is sentenced to death, due next January.

Ironically this update has failed to install on my work PC for the last few days, so I just hid it.
