Cyberpunk 2077 delayed by 3 weeks to 2020-12-10.

More time for me to see how the graphics card market develops.

My first PC game was Day of the Tentacle, a full version included on a magazine CD.

I even got that before I actually had a PC to play it on, I was just buying these magazines and drooled over the graphics when I only had a GB and Atari 7800/2600.

114 hours into Horizon: Zero Dawn. I did every side mission I could find before doing the main story, without the weapons tutorials (I should do them for the XP...) but including the Frozen Wilds add-on (was hard at first, a bit like this...) up until right before going up Thunder Drum. I then stopped there and continued the main story where you climb down the palace balcony in Sunfall and enter the ancient facility. Then learned about the history of the world there and at GAIA Prime.

As a result I'm level 57 while the next main story quest is rated for level 34. But I think I'll complete Frozen Wilds first since apparently the main story ending prevents playing further.

I also boot Windows at least daily, to play a game with Epic's wonderful kernel driver client side anti-cheat solution baked into it, because the game's developers couldn't figure out a way to implement a 60 player game without performing all the physics on the client side and trusting the client to tell the server where the player is and what the player is doing

Client-side physics is like leaving your front door unlocked - anyone who's checking will see that there's no protection.

GOD DAMMIT, I WANT ONE (sans the RGB) - one of the many things broken in this house is the microwave oven, as mine has a faulty keypad (only the Start/+30s and Stop buttons work, and only sometimes).

Speaking of microwaves...

After a slight mishap (idiot me tried to heat food in a paper bag that was also coated with plastic, created smoke and white powder that smelled like early death) I got my parents' old microwave, a Sharp R-220A. (For some reason there are mostly Thai videos of that model on YT.) There's no label but it looks like it's from the '90s; only the timer wheel's not working correctly unless you push it a bit inward.

Maybe you can 'just' discharge all capacitors and then check for faults...

Not strictly computer-related but software bloat. How the fuck are games reaching in the 50GB+ marks, do they expect us to all be able to pay for huge SSDs on top of the already skyrocketing prices of the games themselves (due to the natural thing of them being unoptimised, they won't run on a HDD)?

You say that, but here I am on my 2014 CPU (4790K), 2014 motherboard (GA-Z97X-Gaming 5) + RAM (DDR3 2400 MHz), 2016 SSD (1TB M.2), 2020 RTX 3070 - and with a bit of tuning the game runs at very playable 40-80 fps. (EDIT: at 1440p with DLSS on)

The problem is: how do you store geometry, textures, sounds (and background music) of an entire city in a format that's fast enough to load while driving cars or motorcycles? Cyberpunk 2077 is optimized for that - loading a save from the main menu after starting the game takes only ~15 seconds.

"I'm a Spider, So What?"

Gonna watch this, already read the manga for quite a few chapters.

Fun fact: since falling into the holohole I haven't watched a single anime except the recent episode of Re:Zero. Rent-a-Girlfriend? Stopped at episode 5. Danmachi 3, Mahouka, Tonikaku Kawaii? No idea about those...

Out of curiosity I tried plunking random pixel art on the online demo site and was surprised to find it doesn't really do much to them, if at all. The resulting outputs seemed no better than Nearest scaling.
