So, day and night cycles are some how represented in at least some form or another in all the major erotic games (CoC, Cursed, Niburu, Nimin, Pornarinum, etc). My question is will it be present in Noxico?

Time could have an impact on the number of enemies available during the day, as well as how often they spawn and how powerful they are (stronger, and more numerous opponets appearing during the night). As well as providing unique encounters during either time block, would this be hard to implement?

Lilith: "Bullshit, a metric fuckton is 1000 metric assloads. Which, if you actually fucking went to school, you'd know was equal to 32.5 Helluvalots."

There's a playing time that increases by... let me look it up... five seconds per tick. There's no day and night cycle yet, though things are planned.

For example, you might notice if you check the source code that each bed in a village is named after its owner. This is supposed to make villagers path onto their beds and set a token, which a high-priority scene can then detect, allowing (for example) Chat to fail.

Different encounters during the day and night aren't especially difficult per se -- the trouble is in that wilderness and dungeon encounters are as persistent as townsfolk. That means that if you spawn a diurnal creature, let it live until after nightfall, and then return, it'll still be there, and there's only <var>n</var> random encounter creatures per board. That is, if the limit for a board is 10, and there's less than ten creatures (not counting the player) when it's loaded, new creatures are spawned until there's ten of them, so the nocturnal creatures won't spawn until 1) the diurnal creature is slain 2) the player lets 1000 ticks pass by while far away from that board, which causes the board to be saved and unloaded 3) the player then returns so the board is loaded from file and the encounter pool is refilled.

1000 ticks = 5000 seconds of in-game time ≅ 83 minutes, or almost one and a half hour.

Personally I'd rather tackle high-priority scenes. I think I know how to do it, too, keeping certain scenes at the top of the DOM while still letting MIX put expansions on top. So it's priority > expansions > the rest.

Day and night is now a thing, and I'm considering leveraging the scene system to sometimes trigger when sleeping.

Sleeping? Yes. In the daytime, you can rest until healed if your HP is lower than max, but from one hour before sundown onwards, you can sleep until morning no matter your HP. In both cases you fully heal.

//var dream = some Character we quickly roll up with an empty token tree just for title bar purposes
SceneSystem.Engage(player.Character, dream, "(dream)");
//leave the rest to filters.

Day and night have been in for a while now, including villagers going to sleep and the player being able to dream. Some things are planned, though:

• instead of either resting until healed, sleeping (>dreaming) until morning, or giving a "no need" error, it has been suggested to use an option list.
• having non-villagers sleep too.
• nocturnal beasties that sleep in the day and hunt at night.

Opinions?

I love all of the above ideas, I've even hinted at nocturnal beasts in my write ups...
