Maybe a "listas" attribute?Edit: Lists as "Goodbye \ Buy it \ Break it", with keys {"goodbye","foo!1","foo!2"}, letting the part after the ! be stripped away before trying to find it again. I don't just program Noxico... |

Dreams use a meta-character too, as do deities when you pray to them. It's really not a problem to use one for the newgame. Now, let's see what this is all about... Edit: I can see one problem with this. The dreamscape seen in the background when you sleep and a dream triggers is basically the Battlefield from Homestuck with some color filters applied (and downscaled to 80x50). So either A) I change the dream background to match your script, B) the "sea of black" in the script is replaced with a vague description of the Battlefield, or C) the forest is. Personally, considering how Homestuck's dream bubbles work and more importantly look, I'd prefer B. It's a nice look. Edit: In fact, I could drop in a script command to change the background. I already decided (more or less) on B. It's your script.

It's not really The Battlefield, it's just based on it, in looks. And those are demonstrated in the two panels I linked to. When the dream switches, the two areas start blending together.

When you go to sleep, there's a chance of a <tt>(dream)</tt> scene being engaged. The main difference between that and a regular scene is that dreams get the checkerboard background, and a different song starts playing until you wake up. The checkerboard background being replaced by the forest during the intro was just an idea, and frankly there's too much text in the introduction to properly see it anyway. Not too go off topic but there's a variable mix system in the works, so most if not all the MOD Archive stuff will be gone some time. Also rendering the loop issue moot.

I'm gonna have to mention here that the ponies are not hostile, and as such cannot be raped, Any creature that can appear non-hostile should have regular non-rapy consensual sex scenes. • vendors (almost there, need more items and lootsets) • way to get a home base so player's children have a place to appear in (reprioritized to low, see below) • • • debug DoomRL-style timing I don't just program Noxico... |

As I just snuck into your gdoc: Ponies are never hostile. They only appear in villages and can thus not be raped, nor can they rape you. The player, as a pony, can rape hostiles. Changelings can be considered "dark ponies". They appear in villages as well as in the wild, but rarely. Only those in the wild are marked as hostile and can thus rape and be raped. They can share most scenes with ponies, the only difference being their disposition (more Renegade than Paragon), hole-filled legs, and insect wings. So no, those are not intended to happen, but the changelings let you keep your 10%. You're welcome. I don't just program Noxico... |

...either share the changeling scenes in much the same way they share good sex, or not rape. In fact, I'm thinking of making that a cultural flag. So if a hostile is horny enough, it checks their culture to see if they'd be willing to victory rape at all, and if they're willing to be unfaithful. That last bit is not a joke btw there already is a "monogamous" setting in the culture data. I don't just program Noxico... |

That's exactly what I was planning, actually. But it turns out it's not a good solution, actually, because it'll try to find an item named "Ask her out to dinner" which doesn't exist! Plan B: use the ! separator used for listas when there's a token in the string: • "Engage in trade negotiations" → "Engage in trade negotiations", finds scene with that name. Usual state. • "Actual name"/"Listed as something else" → "Actual name!Listed as something else", finds scene "Actual name". Listas, as implemented. • "Ask [b:him] out for dinner" → "Ask [b:him] out for dinner!Ask her out for dinner", finds scene "Ask [b:him] out for dinner". Used when there's a [ in the name or listas. Update: turns out I misremembered -- the name is used to link scenes to actions, and the list is the one that gets shown on-screen. Still rewrote that routine for readability and put it up. Instead of doing the villager scheduler, I added a skin vs weapon defense multiplier thingy. I also cracked compression for the MIX system, reducing the size of Noxico.mix from 388.238 to 142.935 bytes by GZipping all the .xml and .txt files contained therein. Also there is initial support for vendors. Did I mention that yet? I don't just program Noxico... |
