look at sierragamers.c

mgm Look at sierragamers.. the a message saying "retro old sierra" support them for trying this and maybe we can see a new lsl or sq game
Nychold I wouldn't hold my breath. Several companies who buy the rights to other products or games generally never, never do anything with them. Case in point, the Amiga:

I'm not saying it wouldn't be nice to see some more Larry's running around, or more King's Quest games, but I have to say I'm not holding out hope. I'd rather the games be dead and loved than continued and suck-@$$. ;)

I'll second that, take a look at King's Quest 8 and compare it to ANY of the pervious King's Quests, I assure you, it isn't a pretty picture.

QFG 5 was ok, the interface and way the game was played COULD be made to adapt to QFG style of playing, but the game focused on too much action and it was too RPGish, to top it all, the game had many, many massive flaws.

I recently bought an adventure game called The Watchmaker, while I haven't gone anywhere in the game because it's so hard and I have no clue as to what to do, but this is THE way adventure games should be, QFG, King's Quest, Laura Bow and all others could be made in this interface and still be true to the original in terms of playability.

mgm Well what i've heard is that if vivendi is selling the rights for the right money, they would like ti have the original designers, and they want to have a opinion on how the game should look and feel. me personally i would like to see a hi res game with the original text input, this is what i liked about those games and not the point and click system. anyway i know that the guys looking into buying those rights, are real sierra lovers and they just want to revive the old feeling

Oh come on, the Coles founded their own company and tried to buy the rights to Quest for Glory and they were prompty turned away.

I know people who cry about fan games being illegal and should be shut down because they're 'stealing' other people work, total crap I say, Lori Ann Cole was the person who designed QFG, it is, for all practical purposes her work, and not Vivendi. Yet some people people would have you believe that just because they own the rights to a game that has been out of print for nearly half a decade somehow 'own' the work, the rights, yes, the work no.

Believe me, Vivendi will not sell of the rights to QFG, LSL or any other classic series, and even so, few of the original people who worked on it will care.

Al Lowe said that he does want to give Larry another chance, but he isn't willing to do it on his own, he can't just dish out 2+ million dollars at his whim, not without the rights which Sierra will never sell him anyway.

As for the text interface, no, sorry, but it's too outdated, if you want to see a GOOD adventure game, try playing The Watchmaker, the way the game played out is fantastic.
