The Google devs have apparently never heard the story of the boy who cried wolf. If they keep this shit up of blocking every last site for even hearing about a site that was rumored to have malware twelve years ago, they are going to find that everyone is disabling their protection.

Such a shame.

I had no problems reading threads containing comments from Palin until today.

Maybe the list of sites Chrome uses was recently updated.

Firefox also blocks attempts to directly access that domain, but does not block the image from loading on this forum.

Also, there's a button that says "This isn't an attack site..." takes me to a nice page explaining that "badware" may be lurking and only try to install itself on my computer under certain conditions and I won't even know it. Oh, and whoever runs the site can submit it for review.

Another handy page, from the "Why was this site blocked" button on the block page, shows that the malware scan was just today, due to some page or other linking to the domain crocro.biz, which I probably should not even mention here or else their scanner will probably mark this domain as malware ridden too.

Unfortunately, they flag sites if the ad services they use contains malware. This happened to MobyGames recently. All it took was a complaint to their ad provider and a submission to Google to fix things.

It's still annoying as fuck.

Blah, yeah, sorry for throwing up all the red alerts. I had forgotten that my avatar was even hosted on my friend's server.

Its a bit silly that you'd get malicious script warnings from a single png file.

Here's a bit more of an explanation in the other thread:

Thanks. My eyes can do it now.

To be honest, even knowing about it, it only "clicks" for me when it hits a corner.

Maybe if I was a fan of the anime it'd be instantly recognizable. But I'm not.

Oh, don't be so virile. We all know you enjoyed watching Luna and Artemis play with Usagi :P

It might also be that I figured it out so long ago that I forgot how tough it was to see it originally.

I'll admit to being enough of a fan that I know that this was only used during the first season, and only in the Japanese version. When DIC Americanized the series, they removed it.

They were trying to recreate an effect seen in the anime, but did a very bad job of it.

I'll post a picture as soon as I figure out how.

Edit: Okay, I think I've got it now. ;)

Its still a bit weird looking, but much more obvious what the intended effect is.

It would have taken them five minutes to crop the circle, and even then the shadow is being cast in the wrong direction. ><

Seriously, they're drawing a circle. How lazy can they be? (Rhetorical question, though from this stock image I can only guess)

Shouldn't the circle on the back wall be more to the left anyway? The light is supposed to come from the bottom right corner, right?

I tried to understand this image with blender, but I can't reproduce it.

Light from the bottom right corner always makes those large shadows:

Moving the light far to the right and top, makes somewhat better shadows:

Maybe the artists only wanted it to look cool, without caring too much about the light. :(

I think the light is meant to be at the top left. Dunno if it works either way though, it looks very wrong.

If you put the light in the top left, the person's shadow is incorrect.

Man, it was all about Mercury. Everyone else needed to get out of the way.

...

I never said I didn't watch it. Just that I'm not a big fan.
