Ugh, AcmlmBoard? What is this garbage??

[edit]
At least you've ported the best theme over.

The bottom <<!-- -->hr> is missing from quotes and it's driving me bonkers. Or is that just another weird difference in the XD flavor of AcmlmBoard that I'm not used to?

The "disable HTML" option also sems to be missing.

https://games.slashdot.org/story/18/10/31/0247243/kids-apps-are-flooded-with-ads

In other non-news, "apps" for kids are actually not suitable for kids, yet lazy parents keep leaving their kids unsupervised in front of so-called smartdevices.

Color me shocked.
I'd wager that the majority of "kid-friendly" media on the Internet is not, in fact, safe for children. There is a lot of really disturbing stuff out there (hi, YouTube). If I had a kid, I would absolutely not put a shred of trust in The Algorithm™ to not eventually show them Baby's First Horse Porn or Ethnic Cleansing for Kids! starring Elsa and Spider-Man.

Nobody has any morals left in this modern hellscape.

You should probably remove the "most plain HTML allowed" text from the post help box, then. I just tried to use HTML italic tags in a post and was confused as to why they weren't working.

oh yeah feature request, make URLs clickable
I'd rather people take two seconds and use the URL tag like they're supposed to than let the board handle it. I've seen this break in spectacular ways way too many times, and sometimes I'd like to paste something URL-like and not have it automatically turn into a link thank you very much.

Trying to view this thread gives me a "502 Bad Gateway" error...

I'm getting pretty sick of this constant fear-mongering. What are the odds that your average consumer is ever going to be affected by exotic vulnerabilities like these? I'd rather just opt out of the "fixes" and get the full advertised speed out of my system, but sadly I'm a stupid Windows luser.

-5V is a common requirement on old arcade boards, generally for the sound amplifiers. The AWE64 is the only one of those cards that I could imagine needing -5V for that reason, but it's entirely possible that they were either generating their own voltage or using different amplifier technology by that point.

I wonder how feasible it would be to run an AT PC on a good-quality arcade power supply? (Not that such a thing would be readily available in your country, of course, I'm just curious.)

I'd love to post some happy numbers, but unfortunately I am a Cox Communications customer.

Top-left corner of the graph is 12:00 AM, bottom-right is 11:59 PM. Shades of green represent successful pings, while red indicates a ping timeout. (The long red streak around 9:00 AM is when a technician was fumbling around with our line.) It's been more or less like this since last Wednesday. We pay $95 a month for this.

I love monopolies.

Trying to report the case to CANTV is useless: their call center is pretty well shielded these days (try to report the voice service -> "Your phone line is already reported!"; try to report the DSL service -> a endless automated menu that always leads to a brick wall - it's impossible to talk to an human nowadays).
This is pretty much par for the course in the US, too. Doesn't matter if you're an individual or a business, either; I tried to call Coca-Cola to fix one of our soda fountains at work and got hung up on three times in a row by their automated phone system.

Anyway, new modem, new hope:

We still get occasional blips of high pings and/or dropped packets, so I'm not entirely convinced our old modem was bad. I think Cox's signal quality is just terrible and the new modem is better equipped to handle it.

now we just need some SD2SNES firmware update for this stuff
I would prefer ikari not implement any features to "fix" broken hacks.

Why don't people focus their efforts on fixing the hacks themselves instead of continuing to release broken emulators?

ZXTune is a multi-platform chiptune player that has integrated connection to several web repositories where you can find chiptunes, in case you get a desperate need to listen to Journey to Silius suddenly.
https://zxtune.bitbucket.io/

I rather like Droidsound-E for chiptune (and numerous other format) playback purposes. Unfortunately, the GitHub repo is horrifically out-of-date, though there are links to the latest builds at the bottom of the page (isn't this, uh, heavily frowned upon for an app that relies on lots of open-source libraries?).

Uh...did someone change the fonts used on the board, or has Firefox's text rendering gone stupid?
