You can even download the book for free, just needs a email address (e.g. mailinator).

Can't get further than this level...

Benchmark: 23fps @ 1920x1080 in the first level at the start. That's with two GTX 970 in SLI.

oh god, the physics speed is tied to the framerate

Well, otherwise your resolution would determine what times you could get.

ASUS F2A55-M LE

Maximum is 32GB, but you probably won't need that much, unless you like to run VMs.

The RAM I'm not clear on because I don't know how to read CPU-Z's memory page to tell me exactly how many sticks I have, what capacity, or what my total capacity is.

On the Memory page it tells you your installed type, size and settings. The SPD page is the same, but for each stick separately. (The Timings Table shows the recommended settings for each speed profile.)

New external HDD or SSD of at least 2TB to store my iTunes library, VSTs, back up old hard drive(s), etc.
I'd copy the system partition(s) to an SSD (deleting/uninstalling everything that can be redownloaded/reinstalled). 500GB should be plenty (depending on how many games/videos/disks you like to keep there). The 1TB HDD can still be used, check its SMART info.

CPU/mobo for emulation purposes.

Right now, even higan and bsnes struggle to reach full speed, which I'm guessing is a RAM issue rather than CPU.
Unlikely. Emulators usually don't need much RAM; most of their hot code paths might even fit into the last CPU cache.

What CPU do you have? The AMD A10-6800B is probably the best for your board, and it gets a single thread rating of 1628. My i7-4790K gets a rating of 2530, and 300fps in bsnes at the SMW title screen (after pressing a button). So the 6800B might get 190fps. The only problem is finding it...

Anyone seen Dororo yet?

I have it downloaded, gonna check it out later.

For some reason I'm not that invested into the shows this season, but these are the ones I'm watching:

1. Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari ("The Rising of the Shield Hero")
2. Manaria Friends (human/dragon princesses)
3. Mahou Shoujo Tokushusen Asuka (mahou PTSD shoujo)
4. Sword Art Online: Alicization
5. Tensei shitara Slime Datta Ken
6. Watashi ni Tenshi ga Maiorita! (Our MaidYour Sister is Way Too Annoying)
7. Domestic na Kanojo (Help I Slept With My New Stepsister)
8. Gotoubun no Hanayome ("The Quintessential Quintuplets")

Dororo looks good. Reminds me of Ninja Scroll and Mushishi.

Did Release the Spyce go anywhere? The first few episodes had a nice training arc, but the villains seemed very... cheesy, I guess.

Yeah, it was an absolute cheese-fest, and there's a bit of a twist at the tail end, but entire thing is short enough to binge so you can just let the spyce flow.

Mmh. Might do.

A better modeling needed for a tree-view hierarchy is to separate connectors from things connected to them. The SNES has an expansion port even if something isn't plugged into it. And a Satellaview is a Satellaview even if it's not plugged into an expansion port. As for what to call the base system and all things connected to connectors, well ... I had to go with object. It could be a console, a handheld, a controller, a cartridge, a floppy disk, a CD-ROM ... literally anything. So any name I chose other than object (or thing) would not cover all cases.

Object is too broad, imo. You're emulating a computer - specifically, (in Pascal parlance) a TVideoGameSystem - consisting of several instances of TDevice (which has at least one connector).

A CD-ROM disc isn't a device. Now granted you don't technically "connect" a CD to a CD drive, but it's at least a reasonable thing to say.

I would represent a disk simply as a string property (file name) of the CD reader device.

I'm perfectly happy with my ZTE Axon 7, still great even if it's a slightly older phone (introduced in July 2016). It even got an update for Android 8 (Oreo) that removed all ZTE-specific addons.
